I emailed them about running and all they replied with was "we can give it a try"

How does this surface do on tires? I thought I remembered it being pretty smooth. Mineral Wells kinda tore mine up so I want to know if I should run my DD wheels or the stock ones I have laying around.

TMS is smooth asphalt, very easy on the tires and can be slick when the temps get high.
I would bring your tires with the most grip.

Course is pretty short compared to Mineral wells, your runs will normally be around 60 secs.

What was your question about running?

Look forward to meeting you,
Scott

Mineral wells when I went was short though, I was in the 55's. I just wanted to make sure I could run, since SCCA says no SUV's but of course I should have no trouble.

Oh I know all about understeer haha. It doesn't help that I have 265's in the front and 295's in the back.

Remind me to steal your wheels and tires lol. Even though they probably wouldn't even fit lol. I think I'm gonna run 255's in the front and 285's in the rear with the Kumho Ecsta XS. Seems to be a pretty good, relatively inexpensive tire that actually makes good sizes for 17 inch wheels.

Stu, this surface is very slick for the most part....& when it gets Hot !....that's even worst for the traction. I would run the stickiest tires you have...whatever they are.....Not that it is an exact science but....I would run the lowest treadwear rating of a tire you have ! I noticed that those Hankooks were rated at like 420 so if you have something that is lower....I'd run them.

And the course will be about the same size as the last course at Mineral wells....they only used like maybe 1/3 of the whole area out there that day.
TMS is smaller & tighter....so watch out for your understeer !

Have fun out there...kinda ironic that I'm gonna be in Cali while your out here running AutoX !

Have fun Stu....I'll be ready for one in late July just to get back in touch with it.

It's a sealed surface with decent grip. There are ocassional "holes" in the track from RV's putting to much weight on their jacks.

And yes if you pay for the event we'll make sure you get your seat time. You can always borrow the G.

That's real kind of you, thanks. I suspect I'll have no problems as they seem to have the same attitude that as long as it looks like I'm in control they'll let me continue.

^^^^^^ Gavin is a stand up guy ! Nice of you to offer that up....If I were there you'd be able to drive mine also....just don't beat me in my own car like what happened to Pat !

You'll do fine out there either way...I always like the TMS lot.....it's smooth and not as hard on your tires as Mineral Wells......But the track is smaller, so you have a give & take situation because Mineral wells is fun for the larger tracks and faster speeds.

I don't know. Going from my car to Chris's made a huge difference. I dropped 3-4 seconds without even trying. His car just makes it so easy.

FUG YOU!!!!!!! I'm still bitter about that. I try to be a stand up guy and help Gavin out and he may as well have rammed my car up my a$$ lol. On the bright side, it helped show me what my car was capable if at the time. Now I'm really curious to see what it can do with the coils.
