Default My tech people

What do you do?(explain it a little bit) Do you like what you do and what kind of stability in your job do you have? If you had to pick another job in your industry what would it be? I'm a medical laboratory technician right now and while it's fun playing with ****, ****,blood, brain fluid, etc. and finding out who gave who herpes, I must admit it's pretty boring. There haven't really been any changes in the job for like 20 years. My friend might be able to get me on with a company dealing with hospital computer systems. I was thinking about doing that while I go to school for something more specific. My only worry is that I'm 28 and some of yall cats have been doing your jobs since your teens. I remember seeing a lot of young cats back in the tech boom days at starbucks in rockville with their brand new M3's. I don't know what happened to them since. Thanks in advance.

Mike, you're such a smart-@$$! ....According to certain photo's, I've seen your winkie.....And apparently I was surprised! Ok, this is just NOT going right...

Despite his previous claims, Mike and I both work in the IT field. I'm a network engineer for a company that was just acquired by Sun Microsystems. Mike runs his own web-site, MikesPeckerCam.com.

When the dot-com bubble busted, it washed alot of guys out of the IT industry. Unlike back then, it's definitely more of a job than an adventure these days, but I'm still relatively happy with what I do. Like you, I've contemplated a career change, but I'm satisfied enough with what I do that I haven't been motivated to take on the risk and loss that comes with changing careers.

You are at a good age for a career change though, and if you're single, even better. You've got a LOT of working years left ahead of you, so if you're unhappy with what you're doing, move now. 30+ more years of playing with body fluids doesn't sound like what you want to do.

What kind of work are you interested in?

A little bit of everything. I like it all. I guess the further I get in school I'll figure it out better.
