drift track in Va beach!!
I just found this place today! for those for you who might be interested, there is a small race track that people can race on for $20 bucks!! you get to make 4 runs. the track is set up pretty nice. Every 2nd Sunday of the month. the location is off of princess ann and seabourd near pongo. I am working on finding the info about it for better details. they do the races in heats and there are some really nice cars that show up. My buddy was racing an M3. There were a bunch of corvettes, some G35's (one of which had the best time of the day) and Z's of course. The Z's generally own the track!! If anyone knows the website please post it and PM me so that I have it. Before the next one I will post again and see if we can meet up before going over there. If anyone knows of other places to go please post them!!
That was actually a Auto-x event.
I had on of the Z's there and the club is Beach Combers Corvette club.
They do them the 2nd Sunday of the month and there is another club running next weekend.
You can find info here: www.autocross.us
The G35 didnt have the fastest time, a Z did beat it. There were some faster cars that did better also.

Thnaks for the info. My buddy (running a M-3) had given me the info after I got there, well after 3 pm. I think that next time I will be up there for the entire time but it might be a month or so before my Z is on the track.
Yeah that's where the autocross guys go to do their runs along with the place on NAB Little Creek. I believe the place is an old unused alternate Navy runway and belongs to the Coast Guard now as part of a comms relay site. I'm pretty sure the USCG moved all that mission to Northwest, where the NSGA used to be.
There is also a runway south of Pungo in Creeds, but I do not know the status of it. I think it was used as a drag strip at one point. Both these runways were used by thr Navy during WWII.

Hi USN
If you have any interest in wanting to experience what the course feels like at speed as a passenger, then come out on Sunday as well.
I'll be driving on Sunday at probably 11:30AM. I don't mind having a passenger for 1 of my 4 runs (times don't count because of a passenger).

I've just been asked if I'd like to instruct on Sat. pending OK by the driving school chairperson. The other instructor who had some time conflict, also drives a Z, said he'll try to come out to video later in the day. A nice swap!

," the last insurance requirements I saw for TSCC only required at DOT approved helmet. (Be aware that TSCC renews its insurance in April and could find out that K&K insurance has changed the requirements. However, since a 2005 Snell M-rated helmet is okay for SCCA Solo events, I don't think that you will have a problem.)
The SCCA allows you to Solo using the current and the previous two Snell standards for K, M, or SA helmets i.e., 1995, 2000, and 2005 standards.
The Beachcombers use NCCC standards which allow 2000, 2005, and 1995 Snell approved M or SA helmets. (The 1995 Snell helmets must be less than 10 years old which means times running out on them.)
All SCCA time trials must use Snell 2000 or 2005 SA approved helmets."
Post taken from Autocross.us from Greg Smith in explaining which helmets are OK to use.
Hope this helps
