Default Can a tire pressure sensor kit be added later?

Bought my Z used so it couldnt be added. But my wifes FX came with it and it saved her recently. Couldnt eyeball that one of the tires was low but sensor said it was. Took it to the dealer and they said there was a big thick nail in it that was causing a good sized leak. I'm just happy it didnt go totally flat on her on the Beltway in rush hour. Makes me wonder if its addable with new wheels and if so, what kind of display does it work with? Would it be compatable with something like the Avic Z-1?

There are aftermarket systems you can install, but the OEM system won't happen. The antenna for the OEM system runs up the passenger-side A-pillar, the receiver unit is under the passenger-side dash, and it talks to both the multi-function computer, and I believe the either the cluster circuitry or the ECU.

Cheaper and easier to go aftermarket.
