Thumbs up Sunday meet 3/25/07 new thread

I'm in for a meet, so here is the new thread for sunday ....anyone else have a suggestion?? As always I want to hear what everyone has to say and make it so as many of you guys can attend as possible to make it worthwhile for everyone. Below is a link to a local place I mentioned last week at the Whitemarsh meet

http://www.cheers-bar.net/index.htm

Sunday 1/2 price wings and $5 domestic pitchers, pool, darts, games, plenty of parking. At 5:00pm there is a local spot that is 5min away called Loch Raven Resevoir there are a few groups of people that meet over there, and some scenic twisty back roads to cruise.

here is a little info. on the reservoir

How about we cruise through Anacostia and the survivors will meet up for drinks in DC?

^ 7 sister is Harford Rd. we can definetly hit that as well it's really close, once the guys that are unfamiliar see the area it's like a big circle and kinda hard to get lost so it should be a good time. VA is good but 20mph over the speed limit = jail so MD may be more fun for enthusiastic driving lol.

Really? Im pretty sure we are thinking of the same place, but maybe I've got the names of the road's mixed up. 7 Sisters from what I always knew was going up to the top of Loch Raven Dr.? I remember meeting up with a bunch of bikes on Sundays before they shut it down for repaving etc. At the top there was a big parking lot (well semi big hehe) and then there was a section of sharp twisties going up the hill from there don't know if its Harford Rd, Loch Raven, or I've gotten 7 sisters confused all together hehe...?

7 sisters reffers to the 7 sharp corners on Harford Rd between Cub Hill and the Gunpowder River (at notchcliff Rd. I grew up 1 minute away in Perry Hall). There are plenty of twisties at the reservoir as well as a long stretch for parking just after the two lane bridge. There are two other areas for parking inside the watershed area at diffrent locations, the majority of car entusiasts and bikes hang out along the "beach" area just across the bridge. be careful there will be bikes, cars, dogs, kids, geese, ducks, all kinda stuff right in that area.

a good adress to plug into GPS for anyone wanting to check it out on thier own time would be:

Sanders Corner
2260 Cromwell Bridge Rd.
Baltimore, MD 21234

This restaurant is on the corner of Loch Raven Drive and Cromwell bridge Rd. Loch raven drive will lead you back into the watershed area where you will find more twisty roads and the brand new dam, be careful coming up the hill between the flood gates (when you see it you will know exactly what I'm talking about, you can't miss it) it is pretty steep. anything over 20mph will send you airborne... trust me... most of the roads lead to pretty much the same general area and you would really have to try your "damnest" to get lost
two "dam" jokes in one day!

Oh ok yeah I've got you now hehe.... Sorry Im northern Carroll County and always thought that was 7 sisters on Loch Raven Dr. after the dam gates ! I know where your talking about on Harford now! Damn all this time I was talking about the wrong section hehe. I can definitely vouch for those roads in that area being very nice and twistie ! Spent hours upon days on the bike playing in that area...

Sidenote: Sanders Corner; good eats! And down the road nice little convience store on that 90 degree corner of Glen Arm!

^ the pop shop! shrimp salad sandwich FTMFATW!!
(for the m____ f____ing all time win)

usually if I'm in the Z going down Harford Rd. I'm behind some sort of non driving non speed limit abliging person. But if I am with friends or in a beater it's wide open road!!! just my luck I geuss. but both sections are so close to each other we can easily hit both without loosing a single person along the way.

hells yeah man!!! Though after checking I think this is why I've seen so many people call that section 7 Sisters (the one I was thinking of at first)... Not trying to step on your toes in anyway; I know the Harford Rd section your talking about and the Loch Raven Dr. section and your a local so Im going with what you say!

It has been argued before and I can see where people confuse it, but once you hit the first curve after cub hill you can count out all 7 turns then you cross the gunpowder right at the bottom, then you start to run parallel to the river. I also remeber when Loch Raven Dr. was closed for about three years to put up the new dam and flood gates, all of my buddies still rode thier bikes where they and I refer to as "7 sisters" (harford Rd.) while the watershed and Loch Raven was closed to the public. Either way all technicalitys aside I am glad I live so close to such an awesome section of roads as you can see Bel Air on the map, I just take Harford Rd. all the way down to the watershed it's maybe a 20min ride from my house I drive it on the regular

Edit: (DRspin) The Hampton Mansion are pretty cool as well, lots of neat historical stuff right around the area, just finished reading the .pdf about the area. Pretty cool, stuff I used to see everyday and kinda take for granted. Reading that puts it all back into perspective! nice link!

Debating Charlottesville Charity joint..but I dont want to drive all that way...Baltimore isnt far nor close...its doable...I will keep you posted DROPPED. Also there is a nice 10-15 mile no cop bonnies drive off I95 that goes to MANASSAS, but its south of the mixing bowl, then it end in Manassas. That is far for MD guys, but Whitemarsh is not around the block either. I believer the roads are 610,611,612 to something to Route 28..something like that, Id have to google it to be exact...its all open country though...drove it in the rain to avoid traffic one day and thought, I HAVE TO COME BACK ONE DAY..and never have.

^ Pretty sure it's 610. Starts in Stafford and goes through the woods running along side a military base and runs out to either 234 or 28, depending on which direction you take at the 4-way stop. It's fun, and posted at 55...
