The only way to beat an STI is to overtake him in a turn going sideways taking up 2 lanes so he cant utilize his AWD system to out-handle you.

The STI in stock form dosen't launch.... it bogs!!!!! and from a roll, the Z PWN's because the AWD kills it up top (stock form!)

Yeah, STi's are fast... Real fast. Honestly it's a toss up between a Z and and STi based on driver skill and bolt-ons. It could go either way. F'k it. Just race him and post up the results. Worst case, you've got inspiration to do some work under the hood

 

STi > Z

 

Of course you whomped on him from a 1500 roll... he wasn't in boost at all, and lagged until ~3300.

Even then though, from a roll a Z shouldn't have ANY issues walking all over an STI/STi. Take it to the 1/4 though and prepare to be mollywhopped (as long as the Subie has a decent driver). The '07 STI's have dipped into the 12's stock.

You can ask a few people here what would happen (they have first-hand experience).

I know Rich beat one, and I know I did some beating up. It's very driver dependent froma roll. Ex: I stayed dead even with a modded '06 Z when my Evo IX was bone-stock, from a 2nd gear roll up to around 110-115 mph when we let off.

 

You'd be surprised what a healthy 100 shot will do.



Its not that hard really.

 

should be a good race unless the guy can launch..... if you can swing it, run from a roll as many have mentioned...

Run him from a 45mph 2nd gear roll. He will be at the bottom of 3rd out of powerband OR require an IMMEDIATE shift into 3rd---this is your chance to take an early lead. Next Q is can you hold him off during that 2-3 shift?
