I normally would but I'll be at Road Atlanta instead. You should have fun, Shenandoah is a great technical track. Have you been there before? There are a few tricks for that course...

I live really close and I used to drive in PCA events there all the time. I'm not driving the Z this weekend, jusst going to watch a friend. I know the Trackdaze guys. I haven't had the Z on a track yet. I might build a track car instead of using my street car for next year.

I figured that most people would be going to VIR, that's weer I would like to be.... but I just can't make it.

If any other newbs are going the below might help you a bit. Looking at the map above ^ you'll be bypassing the pit straight, so you'll using turn 18...

From turn 1 to 3 there's no need for brakes. None. Braking at turn 3- keep the car pointed straight so that when you're under braking you almost touch the left curbbing. Take 4 mid track, you'll see a solid strip of asphalt, keep the car just to the right of that, and crest the hill at 5 wide, using the outward most part of the track at the crest as your apex, kissing the burm on the left on the way down, and nipping the burm on right of turn 6. Track out left obviously. 7 is a late apex, run it uphill as straight as possible, aiming the car to crest the hill after the bridge just a foot away from the grass. This will point you straight at the tallest tree in the horizon. Brake at the bottom of the hill and enter the carousel at about 50 mph, stay in 3rd gear and keep the car low on the bank. Full throttle all the way up past 12 and stab the brakes lightly right before turn in on 13. Be careful here, the car can get pretty loose. This next portion is very important, it's a Type II turn as your exit speed here will determine how fast you go before braking for 17. After cresting turn 13 you want to late apex the hell out of 14, turning in just before you run off the track. This is downhill and off camber... loads of understeering fun. Full throttle down and out of 15, track out right after the muddy dip on the right. Turn 16 is a real butt clincher, for a beginner I suggest upshifting to 4th right before turn in and keep it full throttle through. Your tires will squeal. Like death. Speaking of death- do NOT lift here.

Alrighty...so you exit out of turn 16 at about 90mph and fly down to turn 17, you'll probably be braking around 115mph. This is also a very late apex turn. Track out to the right on corner exit and swing back over to the left, finally braking again at the top of 3rd gear as the elevation rises. Turn 18... different people have different ways of taking this... I take the shortest route possible, keeping it in 3rd and slightly run up on the left curbing on the exit.

That was a great turn by turn. I've never been on the Shenandoah circuit. I ran so long ago they hadn't even dreamed of that track

I'll file this away for a good Friday at the track reference. Thanks
