Dupli-Color is a brand of spay paints and paints. Mostly automotive. It's a way to save money and people have done it. It's not as durable as a powdercoat but the benefit is if something happens a little sanding and some extra paint can fix it.
What color do you want your wheels to be?

well i see silver/gunmetal as choices, so i was going to do silver
main reason for thinking about duplicolor is for budget and simplicity of DIY
i saw a DIY on g35driver that used engine paint from duplicolor and came out well
my 18s right now have a ton of discoloration, so i wanted to at least make them look nicer before i sell w/o spending a bunch on like powdercoating

4shizzil, how many cans of primer/paint/clear coat did u use for all 4?
i dont have much experience with a spray can at all, but im pretty picky about detail and quality, so i think my patience will make it worth it if i choose to do it

It took me and TENGAI about 2 hours on the first wheel..being patient and scared azz shizzil....then we finished the other three in about an hour.
It took me one can each for the first coat.
Then a few weeks later...schedule..bla bla..it took another can/coat each to get them where I liked them....the under color blead through.
Then I used about 2 cans of clear for the 4.
I would buy 7 cans at the minimum...but my color is light so I needed more.
If using a dark color..one can per rim should do it...but I would buy extra for touch ups and nicks, etc.
I cant find my color anywhere anymore!

Did mine in the backyard, pro style though.
Clean, sand, sand, clean, sand, clean some more. Primer not always necessary, rattle can primer sucks anyways. Paint, clear only with catalyst activated paint or else it will just flake after a few months. Excuse the messy backyard, house is being modded as well. lol

Same process with rattle can, will take at least 5 cans of rattle.

If you think about it.. Primer is just another coat, which I did do eventually anways..lol.
Plus when we tested, we tested it on a diff surface, which mislead us in thinking it wouldnt need primer.
We live, we learn.
