Default 06 oil consumption opinion

Hey guys I have the 06 oil consumption issue bad, I am going to take off the FI pretty soon. Think I should take off exhaust also? That is only other performance mod done, I figured it would save a little headache and give dealership one less thing to turn me away for.

any performance modification on a vehicle voids its warranty, even an exhaust... even an intake or a plenum spacer. Trust me, I've tried and have failed miserably =)

You could have oil consumption but the moment they see aftermarket parts, they can decide not to work on your car at all.

This is not legally true. Although many dealers will try to give you that BS line, if you fight it you can get you car warrantied as long as the dealer cannot offer and prove any direct connection between the aftermarket part and the failure. For example if you have a faulty differential the dealer cant turn you away for having an intake and exhaust. If you have a motor issue and you take all your FI stuff off they most likely wont be able to prove that the exhaust is the cause of your problem. If there asses about it you might have to contact NNA, BBB, or get a lawyer. I had an 02 max with tranny issues with 3rd gear and it was replaced under warranty, I had aftermarket i/e. I know plenty of others have experienced similar issues. You just gotta find a good stealership to take it to.

Ummm the o6 recall shouldnt do much with bolt on mods at all. My dealer has YET to say anything to me regarding them. They have several Z's on the lift as of yesterday that werent stock :P My advice is find a dealer that isn't so ****. I think it maybe a little diff though with F/I.

I'm taking off FI anyways, just didn't know if I should strip exhaust also. I am going to try another oil change and see what happens. I am using Amsoil right now and has yet to burn but Motul/Royal purple consumed quick.

You are denying the inevitable. A buddy of mine had his warranty voided for having a turbo-timer and an exhaust on his STi... didn't make much sense but he couldn't do squat about it. Depends on the dealership! Yes there's a recall on oil consumption and the dealer is required to replace it even though an exhaust would not do anything to cause this problem... BUT if your warranty is voided from that exhaust, now what? LOL

All I gotta say is: better safe than sorry!

I too am planning to bring the Z to dealer due to mentioned. I've got a couple of aftermarket as well and although they are now acknowledging the prob with the 06, I want to make sure that its a slam dunk fix without the headaches....

Read the Oil Consumption Sticky thread...its like 25,000 post..make is stock as possible....

you can search for my threads on this subject as well. They gave me shizzil for have a K&N filter at Infiniti...dont take any chances on a free motor. Even if it cost you a few extra bucks its nothing compared to that 17K bill the dealer charged NNA! 7 for the new motor 10 to drop out the old and drop in the new hand built long block.

get the hand built long blocks without any issues..

Bone stock = no questions, delays, or hassils.
