Default How bad is the base in snow and rain?

So just wondering how bad it really is, I dont know if I'm being over cautious when I'm driving my 08'. Like the other day when it was raining i was going no more than 45 and I didnt know if that was overkill. How fast or hard do you guys drive? Can I drive normally?

snow = drifting

rain isnt too bad, i dont slow down too much, snow = low speed, high gear....

stock tires in rain = scary
stock tires in snow = stuck
aftermarket summer tires in snow (lower pressure) = possible but zero traction, so super slow
aftermarket all season tires in snow = possible, but slow still
aftermarket winter tires in snow = I don't know yet haven't had any this year...

Yeah, I make it a point to not drive my Z in the snow... t'is why I bought my beater car. Snow driving is scary. My 03 Z was a base model, which made for some interesting winters.

Rain is cool though, just no sudden movements in corners.

If you drove your car today, you might as well start shopping for #3.

you guys are babies, put some bags of salt or something in the back and drive defensively.

I put two 80lb bags of solar salt in the back of my Z in bad weather and it works really well. My roomate puts 3 80lb'ers in his s2k and he also has no trouble.

I went to pick up chinese food not too long ago (because they wont deliver, its snowing!)
It started off fun as hell, dorifting around turns haha, then when I was done having fun, I got serious... Came up to a four way going about 10 miles an hour, lightly braked...Went through the 4 way at about 10 miles an hour haha. I made it though. As I'm coming back, this S2K pulls out in front of me and practically stops. He tried moving but just spun, and ended up off the road. It was some full bird leaving work to get home. I pushed and pushed and he finally got back on to the road (it wasnt a ditch or anything, he just needed a budge).

Now if it would have been some enlisted guy, I woulda kept driving

I kiiid I kiiiid

I got 80lbs in the back from my wing and an extra 80 from the audio system! FTW!

YAY! I claimed my car back!!! The key to driving a RWD in the snow is to drive in reverse! I wasn't able to make it up this slight hill in my neighborhood. So I went back, drove up in reverse and now it's nicely parked! When is Dave Shiroma gonna offer the AWD conversion? Days like today makes me want to put him into work!!!

If the ground is flat and you take it slow your good to go with snow tires but if you come to any type of hill your going nowhere. I have a base with Blizzaks on it all the way around but I still got stuck on a small incline today. The weight in the back makes since tho...

I don't care what car you drive, if it has all season tires on it, it will be just fine.

stock Z tires + snow = not very good.
stock Z with all season tires = just as good as any other car in the snow with the same tires.

I tried the bags of sand in the hatch a few years back. Helped a little, and it provided me grip when I got stuck, which was every time I tried to leave my parking spot. So yeah, I guess I am a ***** because the Z is crap in the elements

My 1990 Accord, on the other hand, is a tank. Today was her first real test, and not once did I lose control or slide. In fact, a Dodge Ram next to me started to fish tail as we were coming to a stop at a light. At first I thought he had it under control, but then he went completely sideways into my lane; I avoided him as though there was no snow on the ground: turned my wheel, braked, and he missed me by inches. It was exhilarating! The Accord rocks.
