Default Are you registered for the draft?

I was talking to a buddy tonight, and he had no idea about the draft. We were doing some research since he's not yet a citizen and we discovered that if you're between 18 and 25, whether you're a citizen or a registered alien, you are required to register for the draft.

So, everyone good to go? I registered within a week of my 18th B-day. The penalty for not registering is up to a $250K fine and up to 5 years in prison!

Ah yes, nothing beats having served and fulfilled my selective service obligation. Now that I am over 25 I don't have to worry about either

When you get your DD214, it will state that you can be recalled at the will of the SECDEF.

I have seen people who had not served since Viet Nam get back door drafted in critical fields.

I'll take a look at that tonight. I kind of expected it and am not surprised...

I am not registered for the draft, It's "selective service" not a draft. selective service is basicly so if a draft were implemented the US govt. has thier own census as to who is available to serve and thier last known address.

Definately optional, like voting, and abortion. Exactly how it should be.

I'd be willing to make the ultimate sacrifice, if need be, for the USA.....other countries, not so much. This is the best place in the world to live, despite the idiots which run it. Those idiots are usually just products of the system society made them to be. I actually wouldn't mind it as long as I sowed my wild seed before I left!

When I registered to vote when I was 18, I don't remember registering for "selective service" at all...I don't even remember that option...
