Default Maryland Vehicle Emission Inspection Program for new cars

noob Q, but what is MD's policy for VEIP for new cars? I know I have to do one for my older car every two years. Should my Z also be receiving a letter or are new cars exempt for a longer period? I have an 06 Z in case you are wondering.

all cars in MD get it every 2 years. If newer that 1997 (I think may be older) all you get is plugged in for computer check, no sniffer. You should be fine. I have modified exhaust and lowered but had no problem with my 05.

anything with OBD2 or higher (most all cars 06+) need nothing more then a basic computer check, they plug into your car and if everything reads as normal... you pass.

No more dyno.

Or in my cars case, I just pull up and ask the manager to sign off on my paper and I'm good to go. =)

If they feel they'll mess up your car by testing it, they wont test it. Guess its a liability issue.

on another note, in order to get a jack under my car I have to run it up onto 3 boards.

Nope. Having a front mount I/C wont help me get over the rollers.

MD is every 2 years. If you buy a brand new car you'll have to get it tested 2 years out, if you buy a used car and it was done 2 months before you bought the car, you'll have to get it tested 22months out.

Welp I just took my Z to get it smogged today since it was due. Saturday around 12:30 every lane was backed up. a good 20 cars or so. I drove right by them, parked next to the office, went in and asked the guy if he could take a look at my car since I felt that it was too low, he asked me for my paper, he walked away, came back with a waver and said here you go. I asked him if he needed to look at my car he said "nope, its in the computer already"

Friggin eh, I didn't even have to take my Z there =( I could have easily done that on a week day before work. Ohwell I know better next time.

Because they are not to bright........to get to the obd11 test you have to drive over the rollers. My cars front bumper would get ripped off if i did that.If they were smart they would use a hand held scanner but there isnt a way to record that thru their computers so they just issue you a waiver.
