Default Problem with my car

Well, my newly acquired high flow cats are busted (received them busted) and I don't mind running them until I get something new. The guts of the cats are bad, no cracks or anything. Anyways, driving to work this morning, my car was acting realllllyyyyyy strange. I was cruising at around 3k, and my car would just start jumping real hard, the tach was going nuts, and if i pressed the gas in nothing would happen. I would have to change gears, then it would be ok for a second, and it would start doing it again.

Sitting at a stand still, the car would begin to stall.

Anybody have ANY idea as to what the hell is going on??? I would appreciate the help much, I want to get this taken care of before something serious happens. I'm not sure if its the cats, but if it is, I can always get my test pipes back on.

If the car wasn't doing this before the cats, I would say the cats are the issue. Throw the TPs back on until you get the replacement cats, as it sounds like this issue you are having isn't too safe.

Yeah, I would make it a priority to get them out of there. (I haven't been under our cars yet) But did you leave a O2 unplugged or something?

Did you change gas octane? When I was driving across the country, "Premium" was 91 in California, 90 in Texas, 93 in Tennessee. With each change (twice) the car wouldn't go above 3k rpms without bucking and jerking and not doing good things. Pulling over, turning it off and waiting a few minutes fixed the problem, but it was just that simple.

If its not that, then look into the cats. Talked to any shops yet?

The O2's are in there nice and tight. The car produces really bad vibrations when I let off of the gas anywhere from 3200 and under. Dave said they are definitely broken inside. I'll get them off tomorrow most definitely.

Well as soon as the cats were on it started with the weird vibrations, I didn't think any thing of it (didn't know any better). I just figured that it was a lot of pressure going through the cats, compared to the test pipes. I called Dave up and told him what was happening and he quickly said they are definitely broken. This morning the car started acting up. I would be driving at a low speed (due to the rain) and my car would speed up on its own, like it was jumping up to the speed it SHOULD be at. Then it would just start bucking and jumping, so I would shift, and it would be ok for a few seconds, then start acting up again.

The test pipes are going back on tomorrow, and if the problem continues, then I know its not the cats, but I'm pretty sure that’s what the problem is. I'm out a lot of money on these, hopefully the seller will make everything right.

They've had a lot of trouble with their cats on the 350Z and G35. The cats I've seen from Random Tech are designed too small for the flow of the VQ35 and we've had multiple customers come in who had the Random Tech's with the same drivability problem. The converter eliment was either broken or melted.

I'd get a good/proven 2.5" Metallic HFC. With a properly designed HFC you really wont loose any top end power at your upgrade level but may see another pound or two of torque down low.
