Last track day

Me @ 525whp = 11.1 @ 126 letting off

Him @ 600whp = 11.2 @ 132

He ran 11.7 @ 129mph last night but he was having problems keeping the car straight, still a shakedown setup. He has MUCH more in it, its easy hooking up (IMO) its hard keeping the cars straight at this power.

why were most of the fi z's running shitty times like mid 13's or low if lucky? i wasnt impressed at all and am second guessing if 7 grand for fi is worth putting in the z right now...

my reason for the times that day was that I was taking it easy on the Z and running street tires. The reason doing so is that I want to enjoy the Z over the summer and avoid downtime from breaking at the track. In march I was trapping 114 mph on my setup with street tires which shows that it has the potential to go much faster.

If it makes you feel better, another Z guy had the same power as me and went 11.9 at 116 mph on slicks about a year ago. If you aren't impressed, save the money for something else.

i didnt mean to offend anybody here as i do know the potential of those cars is deffinitely not 13's. i was just curious why i saw ALOT of 13's with the fi set up. i just kinda figured its extremely hard to drive with all that power and only good drivers pull off 11's but im sure we'll see some better times from the fi guys later on if track conditions/tires was mainly the case this time.

If you already knew the answer why did you make that comment towards FI Z's?

Judging by your dyno numbers/track times in your sig, you of all people should know higher than stock power doesn't equal a fast car

I was having a less than stellar evening also. My best was 13.98 seconds (NA). Just out of curiosity what were you running?

Man, if that's who that is...damn. We had a mini-MZC meet/dyno day down there (at his shop) and saw that Z dyno. I think I saw like 630whp pull...IIRC. We also saw an RX7 that pulled a 751whp!

That Z does look a bit over the top, but to each his own.

I'll say. The blue twin had a problem on his second run at the line and left very easy. Sort of loped along through 1st and 2nd then nailed it in 3rd, I think . The car tried to go sideways, not surprisingly. Pretty cool. Very similar to you, Alberto, last year except you were on it hard most of the way down 'till close to the top end as far as I could tell. From behind, it looked like your car tried to drift/slide to the left almost every run near the end of the track. My guess is at well over 100 mph. I am convinced both the twins this year were taking it relatively easy. Just a thought.

If I wanted to make more passes i'm sure I could have gotten it down to 12.5 or so. But I was just happy to make into the 12's with street tires and the stock exhaust still on there. Like Bigslim said it was hot out and everyone was running 2-3 mph off of what they normally can do.

That night I was 5 - 7 mph off of what I normally did. I think being at 2800 out of the 3000 miles for an oil change might have had something to do with it?
