I also picked him because he was the most docile of the litter. Compared to my labs when I was younger this pup is harmless. He doesn't even try to nip at my fingers (lab puppies are vicious). I'm amazed that I've got him to sit on command a half dozen times already. Definitely a great pup.

I liked the name Titan or Zeus (both greek gods). My wife liked Zeus better.

BTW It's a given that a few friends/co-workers were a little hesitant in me getting a APBT. Most can't even tell the difference between a pure breed APBT and the other 25 or so breeds that get mistaken for it. Even though I can already tell the temperament of my dog is layed back, he'll be raised in a very strict manner, ALWAYS on a leash outdoors, and trained properly. Obviously the owner is the key to raising any dog NOT just APBT.
Take the test and see how long it took you to find the pure breed APBT. I got it in one try.

This isn't directed at you but you mentioned a "dog park". I'm beginning to learn (real quick) through other pit owners that dog parks are just not cut out for APBT. It has nothing to do with the breed. It has to do with the other nonchalant owners that take their dogs to a park so they don't have to look after them.
Some dog owners take their dog to a "dog park" so they can use the excuse to take them off the leash. They're more there to socialize with other people instead of paying attention to what their dog is up to.
My worst nightmare would be me walking my full grown pit on a leash and have some half-*** trained no leash mutt trying to pick a fight with my obedient and well trained pit. It's a no win situation. I try to fend off the half wit mutt and my pit defends me. My pit ends up destroying the POS poorly trained mutt and my pit ends up being the "bad guy" and put down.
I wouldn't want to put my buddy in that situation. Don't get me wrong I'm already trying to expose him to as many dogs and kids as possible and he's doing great. But you're setting them up for disaster if they go to one of these dog parks. Pits already get a bad rap from the media. IMHO it's not worth the risk.

I hear you...but really no worries. I'm just as cautious. Give it a shot, there's other pits/rotties there. I would acclimate him while he's young to kids and other dogs, but I ain't tellin you to how raise your dog.
FYI if you ever need, there's an excellent kennel I've used a few times, another pit owner referred me to.

The whole "no leash" dog park thing is what would worry me. I mean you could have the most obedient dog let alone pit in the park and if a untrained dog ran amok and tries to attack me or my pit it will always be the pit's fault. I'll have to give it a look. Right now I'm not worried about it. It's when he gets older (and bigger). Like I said before he was the biggest pup in the litter and the Father is a hoss of a pit.
Awesome dog Karl, I've been around bully breeds for a long time. My American bulldog is almost 6 and around 130lbs. My wife and I just got a new Pit as well she's 11 weeks now (Redboy and Zebo bloodlines). We'll definitely have to meet up so they can have a play date going. She's brindle with white socks on her front paws.
