I'm looking at going camping with a group of 10-12 people in the next couple months. As far as I can tell, it looks like we're going semi-traditional (tents/bags/etc), but will need to be able to bring our cars on-site. We're looking for a place with some scenic trails (5-10 mile), and a decent size camp ground to maybe have a small football game on.

Anyone have any recommendations? We're shooting for something up to 3 hours away as far as I can see right now. Thanks

x2. Went there a few years back and had a lot of fun. I was just beginning to plan a camping trip there with a few buddies of mine sometime in June/July.

Not many trails, but a huge place. Right on the water so you can go fishing! I have 2-3 camping trips out there every year with a huge group of people.

 

look on the potomac applachian trail club web site (google it...lol) they have all the info you are looking for.
