Has anyone ever sued in Fairfax County small claims court?

Long story short, I dropped off a curbed 08 Nismo Z wheel at Curry's Auto Service in Falls Church. The damage was only on the part of the lip where the tire meets the wheel (the face and rest of the wheel are in perfect condition) . They told me that the entire wheel would not be resurfaced and repainted, only the curbed lip. I told them that if the shop they use would resurface and repaint, I wouldn't want the repair to happen and to call me so I can pick the wheel back up which they agreed to do.
I found out today that the shop they use for wheel repair repainted and resurfaced the ENTIRE wheel (and removed the Nismo sticker). I told them that this was unacceptable and I would seek recourse. I'm thinking of suing them for a new Nismo wheel.
So has anyone here had to bring a suit similar to this, e.g., regarding dissatisfactory repair or service? What was your experience? How did it go?

oh dang, pretty hardcore for a nismo sticker... remind me to never **** u off! =D
You're lucky though, in the auto industry... the customer wins 99% of the time. Next time you can have me fix ur lip. Good luck on your case.

I spoke with someone I used to work with when I was in the legal field and he told me that because the shop did not break, damage, or otherwise irrevocably harm the wheel, there is not much chance that the judge will award me the $1K or so needed for a brand new wheel. He said the most I could get is for them to re-do the surfacing or to take back the wheel and not have to pay for the service (because it was not satisfactory and did not follow my wishes re: how I wanted the repair to be done).
Kinda like when Curry's broke all my stock TPMS's. Replaced them without my permission then had the nerve to not release my wheels/tires to me unless I payed for the replacements. I hope that place goes belly up they suck at life.

QUICK UPDATE:
-again, my legal field friend told me that because the wheel was not irrevocably damaged, a small claims suit would not be successful and that the most I could demand is to obligate them to try to fix the wheel again (not a chance) or not have to pay for the repair
-went to Curry's today to pick up the wheel and the paint was not even close to a match to the others, there was orange peel pattern in the paint, the paint was oversprayed in several places, there were dust flecks in the metal painted into the wheel, etc.
-considering my friend's advice, instead of demanding a new wheel (which probably would have gotten me nowhere), I demanded that they return the wheel, tire, center cap, and pressure sensor to me and just to let me leave without having to pay for this "repair"
Great, now I'm going to have to order a new Nismo wheel through the stealership. Thankfully, I have connections and can get that normally $950 wheel for around $750.
I'm not going to PMS out like others on this board do when criticizing a business but I will simply state that if you like having your car taken care of properly, if you like being treated with honesty, if you like repairs done on the promised end date without unreasonable delay, DO NOT GO TO CURRY'S AUTO SERVICE.

Now, now, no need for that. To their credit, the Curry's owner personally called me to see if something could be done to make it right but at that point, I was so disgusted with the botched repair and the dishonesty all along the process that I told him that I was satisfied with getting my property back and that the matter was closed.
