PLEASE NOTE THIS HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED: 12/27/09
NZC is proud to announce our first meet since our reformation.
Location: Tysons Corner Mall (the secret lot, aka JC Penny's back lot top deck. I'll have a video showing everyone how to get there in a bit)
Here's a video I made of how to get there since Tysons has so many parking lots. It's "Terrance D," the closest lot to "Lukeoil Gas Station" which is about 100ft from the lot:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXv0WUX5otI
NOTE: For those whom are concern with parking: THERE WILL BE PARKING! In fact, a ton of parking, even on the busiest day of the year. I've tested this area out year after year and there's always at least 60 free spots at all times.
Now for all you folks who have significant others: we made sure this event is specifically catered toward all age groups and genders. A meet + you get to go shopping right afterward! Who can beat that?!?
Time: 12pm (lunch time!) on Sunday, December 27th, 2009.
Who: All of NZC!! Anyone else you'd like to invite, feel free. We're friendly like that.
What's Going On?: We're going to be meeting to hang/chill-out, grab some lunch at the food court around 1pm and play some Secret Santa! You don't necessarily have to participate in the game or bring a gift, but for a measly $10 bucks? Why not? It's the spirit of the Holidays! Quit being a cheap ricer!

Requirements: Bring a wrapped gift of $10-20
How to Play: This game is actually called "White Elephant" but if I said that, no one would know what I'm talking about. Anyhow, the rules: All participants draw a number (from a hat, perhaps) to determine their order. An alternative to the drawing is to sit in a circle and take turns in a clockwise or counterclockwise direction.
The participant with #1 unwraps any gift from the pile and then shows it to everyone. Each successive participant, in the order determined from the drawing, or in clockwise or counterclockwise order, can either 1) "steal" an already opened gift (if there's one they really like) or 2) be adventurous and go for a wrapped gift from the pile. If the participant chooses to steal, the person whose gift is stolen now repeats his turn and either 1) steals another person's gift (he cannot immediately steal back the gift that was just stolen from him) or 2) unwraps a new gift.
This cycle of stealing can sometimes continue for a long time, until a new gift is chosen, at which point the turn is passed to the participant with the next number from the drawing, or whoever is next in the circle, whichever arrangement is chosen.
Since items can be stolen, the item in your possession is not yours until the game is over. However, this is often amended with a rule declaring a gift "dead" or "safe" after it has been stolen a certain number of times (usually two or three). This helps the process go more smoothly (avoiding, for example, the hypothetical scenario of the same gift being stolen by every successive participant) and limits the disadvantage of being among the first to choose gifts. The game is over once all names have been withdrawn from the hat or all gifts are opened.
We're aiming to get at least 20 gifts to make this game really exciting! So if you have an extra $10-20 bucks to spare to get your fellow ricer a gift, now is the perfect time!
Alright, now who's down?!
NOTE: Please be sure you indicate if you're playing Secret Santa or not

I thought once you pick a gift one time, you are done, you get what you get. Although #1 gets to pick at the end any gift they want, since they dont have the option to choose from the start? Chinese...
Yea you're right Corey. I think Anh's being Asian about it.. lol.. I think this variation of Secret Santa is called White Elephant.
