Default Brainstorming... Need your Input...

I have a 2003.5 Infiniti G35 Greddy Twin and a 1995 F-150.

The G is my weekend car.

I've been contemplating picking up either a 2003/2004 Nissan 350z with high mileage, or a ~1992 Nissan 240sx (coupe not hatch)

Blue Book on the 350z is about $9,000 however since its a true 2dr 2seater insurance for me (spotless record) is an additional $1000 per year.

Blue Book on the 240sx is ~$1,500, however in two years it will qualify for "historic" plates and another drop in insurance. Insurance will already be less expensive since it will have a backseat "on paper".

Another point is that its getting harder and harder to find a clean 240sx 'coupe' that hasnt modified. A lot of the ones I see are either blacktop or redtop Sr's, or the occasionaly RB

I can do the bodywork on either car myself, so neither would have to be pristine condition on the exterior.

What are your thoughts?

My vote goes toward a 240. A G and a Z is practically the same car, why buy something you essentially already own. And from the post, it seems like you've already made your mind on the 240. Was thinking about picking one up myself.

I did not intend for my post to come off as me leaning towards a 240.

I am.

However, any mods done to the 240sx will not be covered under insurance. If I drop 6k into the motor, 3K into the paintjob, and I total the car (with full coverage) they will only cut me the blue book value.

If that was the scenario, would you still say 240sx?

If I bought a 240 coupe, I would gut it, and start from scratch and know the build quality etc. And I wouldnt need to buy un-necessary parts.

Clean 240+widebody+12"rearwheels+SR=fun all weekend

FYI either car will be a weekend/drift/race car.

I've also contemplated buying a pure off-road vehicle. Titled in my name, but Track Use only. That opens up a can of worms tho. R32GTR

Driveability on-road makes a significant difference.

I've also thrown around the idea of a 92SC300 gutted and swapped, but they are also VERY hard to find clean and unmolested.

240 and if you total it. Buy it back cheap then make it a straight track car or strip the parts or transfer what you can to another 240 since you can probably find another 240 cheap. Keep the G for high hp spirited driving and the 240 for lightweight beating on.

Just hit me...hey man my wife and I are expecting #2 so we need to get a bigger Car...or TRUCK.

we have a 06 VW GLI 4Dr, but it has at the Tripple Clutched DSG transmission and paddle shifts. Come with a set or 5K only driven Blizzacks and leather....Every option except navi (didnt have it in Red).

I can sell it to you VERY cheap more than 50% of new retail....if interested...Selling for our payoff.

Let me know.

I guess I should post it for sale here and on driver..never thought about that.
