Default tint and state inspection

has anyone purchased or sold a car with illegal tint in maryland? how did you get it state inspected? does the tint have to be removed or is there a way around it?

Gotta find a inspection station that is willing to look the other way.

Good Luck.

find and inspection station to look the other way.

ask them flat out as soon as you walk in the door if they will fail you for tint.

According to official state inspection guidelines there can be no aftermarket tint on window... although driving around you are allowed to have up to 35% tint.

Like everyone else said find a shop to look the other way. or just peel it off then pay the 100 to get it retinted....

Register it in VA....oh wait

All kidding aside, tint is not an inspection item in VA EXCEPT on the front windshield where it can't be more than 3 inches down from the top edge.

Now I'm sure someone is going to ask...."why do VA State Troopers write you up for too dark tint on side windows?".......that's because they consider it a safety issue (their own safety, not ours) and because they can! But they can't fail you in inspection for side/rear window tint.
