Since it's SNOWING in SC, I thought I might ask this while I'm thinking of it. How well can you guys get around in the snow up that way? We get a few inches and everything shuts down hear! I know snow is fairly common, but are certain counties better at clearing and maintaining the roads than others? Also do the public transport run in the snow invade I get a job closer to DC.
Thanks for all your help, can't wait to move.

Kevin

If we get 0-12 inches it normally gets cleared off within a few hours. 12+ inches it depends on how good SHA does (state highway admin)

For the most part I've never been snowed in for more then a day.

As far as normal snow fall. 0-6 inches. It doesn't faze me it just pisses me off how everyone else can't drive. It's one thing to drive fast with no one around, its one thing to drive slow with people around, its best to drive fast with a lot of distance between each car like 10+ car lengths however everyone drives slow and tail gates..... best of both worlds.

Ok so basically it sounds like the south driving styles but with snow. I just don't want to sell my z in order to get a car that can handle MD winter. I have a year to pay off my z and save as much cash for a MD winter car. Guess I'm going to work as many Side jobs as I can for a year.

I'm thinking were going to visit ellocot city (sp?) When it gets warmer. My faience has an uncle who lives there. I'm sure we don't want to be that far from her work/close to her uncle. But atleast we will
get a chance to look around.

like wyziwyg said find the mileage, the routes from ellicot city to laurel are all pretty decent as far as traffic goes except for 295 you want to avoid that as much as possible.

I currently work for the Greenville City Police, and would like to do Federal Law Enforcement, or State Police.

county police here have great salaries and good programs for lateral transfers. look into howard county or anne arundel county. those are the two best larger departments and closest drive.

depending on what licenses you have/ what you have to do to get a MD license. My CSM in my army unit is pretty high up in the Rockville city police department which is primarily a community policing type of department due to low crime, small area, and high demand for police involvement in the community.

If you can get into one of the larger departments and get state qualified I can see what I can do to set you up with his department (they only accept lateral transfer within the state)

That's exactly what I'm looking for. I'm going to try contacting some departments after the new year. Hopefully I will only need to do legal updates to transfer to MD. I will definitely be in touch.
Thanks
Kevin
