Here's a picture from when I had a Vette. Never had any trouble from all the old geezers who drive Vettes and the Park Service still threw us out and demanded we buy a permit!

I believe that was close to 200 cars!

^We were scattered all over the damn place....a few of us responsible adults got up to the restaurant and back without so much as a passing look from the po-po.

This would be awesome. I have family and friends down there. My friends up in NJ were just talking about it last weekend, too. This would be a sick idea. Hope this gets moving while I'm not tied up at Chiropractic school.

We had well over 100 G/Z's last event, but the logistics of it became overwhelming towards the event and things degraded rapidly as we hit the gate. Part of the problem with a fall run is the enormous number of people who just stop every 15 feet to look at a deer 2093482039 feet off the road or a single orange leaf that is on a tree 20934390 feet away. Then these people complain to the police when you attempt to go around them or nudge them along.

If someone can get me the link I will cover the $250.

And I'm thinking March would be a good time. From a driving standpoint. Less tourist to get in the way. And we should still be able to see through the trees (no leaves yet) for the blind turns.

It rarely snow mid to the end of March. I have too much other stuff going on in the following months. Apr I'm going to the Import/Domestic Swap Meet Expo. Then to the Rotary Rally at Deal's gap. Ans of course ZDayZ in May.

Remember that sections of skyline drive are over 3000'.....snow in march isn't unusual at that elevation.

Snow on Skyline Drive in March is not unusual at all. We usually had our Vette cruises in April or May. One time in May we actually had snow on the roads near the top......SCARY in a Vette!

The last one we had (w/o paperwork) was a disaster because half the group was escorted out right after they paid w/o a refund.

Whoever wants to step up to the plate, feel free to organize something. You're more than likely going to have to be the one fronting $250 and have everyone pay you back later.
The permit and paperwork are a headache. You must write a brief narrative explianing how your "group" enhances the natural beauty of the park or some kind nonsense.

+1, The last time I when I almost crash into a group of people standing in the middle of the road looking at a bear in a tree. They were standing around a blind corner.

That might be because it's a National Park and not a road rally course! The year I went with the Z's, I saw some people doing some pretty dumb stuff. It only takes a few to ruin it for all.

It is still a road. There is a stopping point every 200 feet. Stopping the car in the only lane of traffic and getting out of the car to point out a deer to the kids will be swiftly met with my horn to scare the deer away......and I will feel good about doing it too. I can tell you as a fact I never went more than 3mph over the limit.....then again that is probably why the police never so much as gave our little group a second look.
