not running smoothly through the powerband under boost. I would guess some kind of misfiring either due to bad tune, or maybe bad coil / spark plugs but I'm no mechanic.

Are the coils blistered? You can probably check without removing anything....it is easy to spot. It really isn't difficult to change the plugs and coils......you will bust your knuckles up a bit.
