Default I should be shot but I have a good excuse

ok, so coming home this red celica comes up behind me. done ummm well it could be worse. body kit was a bit bizzare, and I made out a fire extinguisher on the passenger pillar. definitly had dual exhaust with dual mufflers, not excessive fart cans tho, nice rims. no 100% tint, maybe a 20 or 30%. and HID headlights. all in all, I think he had some performance options to match the body kit. and I didnt notice any insane wing. I wish I knew how much performance.

ok onto the race

doing about 60 mph, he come up next to me, and theres a pretty nice stretch except one car a few lengths infront of him. I decide, screw this, drop back to third, dont do such a great job of matching revs, but not bad(I dont make the gear change from 6th to 3rd very often) and gun it, oddly he had the same idea... so it was about as even a start as youd find since we both just happened to gun it.. he swerved over to an on ramp to pass the car(only a 2 lane highway) and we duked it out to around 120mph. however during his swerve I kinda thought we were done racing, so I let up a bit, then I saw him and hit it again, and then let up again, hit it again when he came back over. and we continued neck and neck from about 110 -120 or so.

I wish I had just slaughtered him, but I didnt, maybe cause I let up, or maybe cause he was modded with who knows what. I wonder if I could find him on a celica board somewhere. anyway. we had fun. I dont think I quite raced my "A game" but I did what I did, and even so, stuck by him.

oh and it was wet roads through all of this, and the Z handled like a champ

I think you had a perfectly good reason to show him whats up ( i know i would), he just probalby caught up cause u let off and lost the momentum...I dont think they have any power adders for them yet, so i dont think he was that fast unless he had nitrous.

Anyways, when are u gonna be in Alpharetta so i can check out your car, i saw a blue G35 yesterday, and that freaking thing was SWEET!

I believe that Blitz is producing a supercharger for the new Celica. So far I haven't seen a new Celica run better than a mid 14 1/4.

new celica? I really dont know what you mean by that... it was the same celica Ive always seen... didnt think it was very "new" it had a body kit on it, so thats out, and its been out long enough for him to have an exhaust as well. so it must not be this "new celica" that I know nothing about...

I wanna race again to regain my pride, I mean, I held with a mustang saleen a few days before, so Im pretty sure Im not slow. I hit the shifts perfect, and I think I remembered to put my foot to the floor. but none the less he was there. I was pulling VERY VERY slowly at the end, but traffic was ahead so I wasnt with him at that point long enough if my pulling was remaining steady or increasing in speed.

as for seeing my car, its sitting in the garage right now, all zainoed up coat number 3 or 4 I think. the cleanest its been since Ive owned it, I pulled out the qTIPS on this bad boy.

it will be on display tomarrow around 3:30 at Andrettis speed lab in gwinette I think?, its about 30minutes from where I live, maybe less. gonna be a sweet car show out there, anyone in the area should go, tho Im the only one on here that I know of going. supra, rx7, and viper clubs are all in on it. including a venom 650R appearing. hope you guys come out to see it.

Yeah, sorry ares. By "new" I meant the newest generation in the celica line (2000+ style). Sorry for the confusion. Either way, it's not in the same class as the 350Z.

yes yes, Im well aware of this, but still why did he keep up? they run like 15sec quarters... I did shift at about 5500 in 3rd into 4th, but that shouldnt have really mattered I dont think... I was only maybe a thousand shy of redline. I should have still been able to over power him.

arg, I want a rematch.

Hey guys, there are going to be ALOT of "lesser" cars trying to see what the 350Z is all about. I know this first hand being the owner of a "lesser" car. I drive a 3G Eclipse ('02) and I can't help but try to keep up. The Z is one of the best looking cars I have ever seen on the road.

oh and I did try to find the guy on a celica forum with no luck. but even the celica owners said there was no way even with intake and exhaust. they all suggested nitrous as the culprit.

even boosting on a celica, I would say the celica could target the Z's performance but not surpass it. 1.6L wont give much, not even as much as a 2.0L would. He would have had to have changed the motor too....

he has 180hp stock in a GTS. which puts him 100hpunder. but hes significantly lighter. 2600lbs I think. so even with 240 or 250 he could easily keep up, meaning a 60or 70 shot of nitrous, or a FI would put him right up there with it.

thers actually a few fi kits for the lastest gen celica... and its a 1.8 liter motor. not 1.6

it has a vtec like kick over at (6200 rpm ? i have never driven one i'm guessing on this one) XS engineering makes one of the turbo kits i speak of,, oh and its compatiable with the matrix (shares motor) ,,, and i believe can be adapted for the mr-s

so watch out... those things can be quick buggers if someone puts some work into one

ohh dont worry about it, i just wanted to clarify the info on the board

p.s. i'm having to forfeit my order (and 1000 bucks) unless someone wants to be generous and help me in my cause.

(****in salt truck hit me and kept going didnt know he hit me,, i wasnt able to follow ,,, there goes my trade in... and pushes me to taking longer to pay off the car than i can afford )

Well you can do the 3S-GTE engine swap no? I know I probably didn't get the engine code right but Toyota has rallied with that engine for years then they ported it over to JGTC in the Supra. 2.0L turbocharged, I know in the Supra in JGTC that baby is producing over 450hp and keeps up easily with the 6cylinder GTR's and NSX's, lighter too. A friend of mine did the engine swap a few years back on an '86 Celica and he's pushing about 320 hp to the wheels. Turbo lag is extremely long but once you spool 3/4 of the way through second she's golden.

From the sound of race the guy probably was on the bottle though, with the way the car lurched forward then backed off. Wash rinse repeat!

No way, I would be hesitant to do slaloms 180+ mph in a McLaren F1, there is no way that the Z does this. Maybe you mean 180 Kmph. That makes alot more sense. I am also pretty sure that a 350z cant go 180 mph....
