Upgrade Brakes Question
I have a 350Z touring that I want to add a upgrade brake kit for auto crossing and track running. Does anyone know if Stop Tech type brakes can be substituted for Brembro brakes and still satify the stock requirement? Or are only Brembro's acceptable.
Changing to Brembos for autox would really blow you out of a competitive class for the Z. Try just upgrading pads, which is legal in stock class. Carbotech makes some great autox pads and they say they can make pads for any car, even those not listed on their website catalog...the Z isn't listed yet.
Since the Brembro's come standard on the track, aren't we able to upgrade to them on touring models?
350Z is not limited to which model we purchased when running in a stock class, is it?
Educate me, some one who knows the rules. I tried to read this in the SCCA web site but it wasn't real clear.

Autox is run what you brung racing, and tries to keep costs down for competitors.
What he said. You can do it, but you would have to install EVERYTHING from a track model that your car didn't come with.
I've seen this done to other cars (turning a base Miata into an R model) at a great expense. It would be quicker, cheaper, and FAR less hassle and work just to sell you touring model, and buy a track model.
