Launching an A5T Z ??
I am gearing up for some 1/4 mile times in about 3 or 4 weeks and have a few basic questions.
My old car I 1/4'd had a high stall Torque Converter (Yank) so basicly you staged, waited and launched at WOT with TC off.
This was done in D with over drive off with the foot on the brake peddle.
Now I read that when you do this (brake peddle and accelarate to flash the TC (raise the rpm's for launch) this drive by throttle wire or whatever it is called kills power. I tried it the other day and didn't even lay scratch at about 3500 rpm's, I had TC off and I have Nitto 555's but I should have at least chirped them.
Today I put it in nuetral and flashed the TC to about 2500rpm's and dropped it (slammed it actually) into D and it launched like a big dog V8.
However it seemed hard on the tranny and rear end.
What would be the best way to run this A5T from staging to the end of the 1/4?
Details appreciated, this kill power when power braking thing is all new to me.
Thanks!

I imagine doing a burnout in a 6MT is the same, but to a lesser extent, as doing a good launch in a 5AT. What I mean is people in 6MT's have been pulling the brake wire harness by the brake peddle. This elimates the throttle cutoff when the brakes are applied, allowing them to do sustained burnouts as long as TCS and VDC are off. I would guess that if you did the same thing you would be able to hold the brakes and rev the engine up as high as you needed and achieve a great launch. Hahaha, yeah, dropping/slamming it into drive is like pimp smacking your wife to get her to do the dishes...the dishes might get done, but you'll definitely pay later
. I hope that helped you, and BTW let us know how it worked for you.

Use the brake. Turn TCS off. Put the car in the gear you want to start in. Press and hold the brake down. Floor the gas!
Since the 350Z is throttle-by-wire and is linked to the brake switch, the engine will rev to only 2G. When you release the brake, the computer will then allow the revs to go wild.
This may hurt your converter, but it's better than neutral drops.
Hope that helps.

LOL,
Good analogy, so funny, nice to start the day with a laugh.
Yeah 2pm and I just woke up. Wierd schedule don't ask,
but the laugh was needed today.
Going to go drop my car off and turn it over too Hot Rod Imports for some mods right now. No Z for two days
