Default Me vs Infinity G35 coupe

early this morning im heading towards autozone to buy some liquid glass...anways theres this G35 catching up to me...he gets next to me and i punch it for about 2 seconds...then we catch a red light

light turns green and he gets about a 2 car lead, i take my time to make sure i can get traction(tires suck) then i start pulling on him like a ****...im now around 1/2 car infront at around 60MPH but then he brakes hard and just busts a hard left into a street! ugh....wish we coulda atleast run to around 110. I hate it when people just stop racing after 60MPH...thats not a ****ing race, its a sprint. Anyways, that started my morning right!

btw, i would have one of the G35's over the 350z anyday!

I agree, I think I like it because it looks a little longer. I dunno. Nice half-run man.

ummm, not to raise a BS flag here, but it smells pretty fishy to me, if you "took your time to get traction" and he was already ahead of you by 2 car lengths, theres no way you could catch and overtake him by 60mph. My best friend has a g35 coupe and we race OFTEN, and if he gets a better launch on me(which he usually does because his michelin pilots have much better traction) its hard to catch him when we start dead even, and if he gets a lead, i cant catch him until about 90mph, and YES, i do know how to drive. they only have 7 less hp and a few hundred lbs, but they can get a much better launch becaus ethey have more eight over the rear wheels and better tires..........anyway, sounds like fun.

taking my time is easing into the throttle by 1/2 to 3/4 to full at around 20MPH...doesnt take much. i mean, the G35 makes around 250 or so at the wheels...thats a 60hp diff between him and i...you have a 350z and it takes you till 90 to catch up to him, and you have less whp...but i dont have a 350z. its cool though.

Z's have more HP than G35's.

i have to agree with SOMEWHAT with ELS1, the g35c is a sweeet car, and I toiled HARD over which to by, and prob would have bought the g35c if i could have gotten the appearance package without the sunroof, but with the sunroof i was just too tall.

With that said, now that I have the Z and my buddy has his g35c, i wouldnt trade it for the world, although the brakes on my TOURING MODEL gave up the ghost at the track this weekend, but held up well to 40+ laps of high speed track driving (120+mph)

The reason why ELS1 had to roll on the throttle is because our cars have 300+FTLBS of torque extremely low in RPM. With street tires our cars launch faster feathering the throttle.

346 cu in V8=Right Now Power!

That is why many of you 350Z owners post keeping up with f-bodies, it is very difficult to find the fine line between bog and spin. No exageration, I can hit it in 2nd around 60 mph and spin the tires and fishtail my way up the freeway onramp. Time for some real tires

if it is tha same car, why make the comment??

btw, yes TA guy and Z28 guys do have thier preferences, just like we do.

btw, I love the G35c, just not as much as teh Z, otherwise I would have bought one

...I am at 5200+ feet of altitude and if I don't feather the clutch at anything above 2750rpms I'll sit there burning out, and launching at or below that is a slow start, or a 'bog' as you put it. So "our cars" launch faster feathering the throttle as well...and SURPRISE, so do many other cars. The reason many of YOU post murdering VQ35s is because you apperently race a lot of slower models (the Z IS faster then the coupe), and/or people who don't know how to drive them. I love LS1s (I used to want a Z28 really bad) and I know they are faster, but a well driven, stock, manual LS1 Z28 will not "murder" a well driven, stock, manual 350Z. Now if your cars are modded, then give the Zs time to get some good afermarket goodies as well. I know my place, and I DO know our cars aren't even close to being the FASTEST things on the road, but I know what a well driven 350Z can do and so I know that I can hold my own against the F-bodies (I go to the track dammit, and there's plenty of them here )....besides, don't forget, many F-bodies are LT1s.

I had a G35 pull up to me on the interstate when I was going about 80. He punches it and takes off. I downshifted and quickly caught up to his rear bumper. I could have easily passed him. Then he wants to go again. We are next to each other. Once again he takes off first. I quickly catch up. I stayed next to him and could have easily pulled off. We gave a friendly wave and shut down at around 130. Not so much of a race, but I am glad I bought the Z. I had my girlfriend in the car. He was alone.

i assume that you have a Z. if this is the case, not to raise a BS flag or anything but......... oh hell here you go

the thing that i find most suspect is that you say he takes off and then you downshift and catch up. there is simply not a big enough HP difference b/w the cars for that to happen. i have lined up with a Z from a roll, and the matches have been pretty even. but it may have happened. i just dont think that this is the norm.

I agree, I play with my budy and his g35c all the time, if he gets ahead he generally stays there unless we are going for a long time, but the gains even then are minimal.

If I was going to BS I would have come up with something better than that. Mabye he is a bad driver and didn't downshift. Mabye he was auto. I don't know. I can tell you that I have better things to do than come to a forum like this one and make **** up. Whether you believe me or not, is your business. I thought the same thing that you did. I had my girlfriend and her suitcase with me. Seemed a little unlikely, but thats how it went down.
