On another note, when my only mods were a lid/cutout (stock tires), I had raced 4 different C5's from a dead stop. I beat all of them...
This confuses me. Basically a 345hp SS shouldn't be that far behind (if at all) a lid/cutout LS1 f-body. So on one hand the f-body should always lose and on the other hand you've beat all of them

I've only had two experiences with C5's. One was with my buddy in his stock '99 M6. I ran him with a lid/CAI/catback (2OTL) from 5-110mph and it was about as even as I can imagine a street race being. The other was when I killed my buddy's '02 Z06, but he's still learning to drive a manual and what gear he should be in at what speed, so I really don't count that one. Regardless, he hasn't said anything about how slow my car is since.

That wasn't my point, my point was to compare the non z06 vett w/ the SS. Its like comparing 911 turbo to the fastest boxter, the 911 is faster and you know, but the normal 911 may be about the same as the soup up boxter. That is actually a bad analogy, but you understand what I am saying.
Uh, yes I agree that was your original post, but see your comments here:

my theory is the SS drivers are better drivers, not saying that to put down vett drivers. but the majority of your vett owners don't buy the vett for its speed, they buy it for its class and reputation. They generally aren't racing advocates, but the SS on the other hand, that car is made for straight line speed, so that guy is going to put more effort into makeing sure he can drive his car to his potential. I don't see very many SS drivers turn down races, but I do see a lot soccer moms and retired people drive vetts.
That is what I am referring to. You are comparing SS owners to all C5 owners. I am sure If we put V6 Camaros into the mix you'd find a lot of "non racing advocates"

I agree with you in a sense.. you can't compare SS owners as a whole..or make that kind of assumption...since Ive ran into more than a handful of SS owners that think they have #1) A completely diffferent engine than a Same year Z28 #2) Can't drive worth crap...

Yes, it should, doesn't mean it will. On paper, the C5 has the advantage. Almost identical rwhp numbers with the C5 being 200+ lbs lighter. The C5 is also more aerodynamic, so the additional drag of the f-body should put it even further behind. Fortunately for me, none of these things did actually happen.
