Default 327whp New Intake Plenum + LS2 90mm TB - Dynos, Video, Pics

I thought this plenum deserved its own thread so here it is. I just spent all last night editing a video as well. If you haven't seen the other crazy plenum testing thread, go check it out here to get some background on what was done:

https://my350z.com/forum/na-builds/4...ing-power.html

The test basically showed that the plenum volume was somewhat of a restriction, but the main problem was the elbow/stock throttle body/3" intake piping all becoming a restriction at high RPM (with other supporting mods, of course).

So, I purchased a 90mm LS2 throttle body and a super hard working guy named Jason from Carbotron offered to build me the larger plenum I needed to test the theory. Huge elbow, huge area around the runners, and lots of CFD later this is what we've got:

Pretty good lookin huh? Well after a quick tuning session (I won't lie, the car isn't tuned nearly well enough but I didn't have much time Friday night!) these are the numbers, compared to a baseline a 72mm ported throttle body and a Skunk2 spacer. Car used to make 312-314whp like that but it's getting tired and building up oil in the plenum - low on compression?

Now the Skunk2 spacer with ported throttle body was the most power combination out of anything we had previously tested. Pretty cool huh! 327whp from a stock engine (mod list is elsewhere but the only internal thing on the engine are Nismo R-Tune cams, sounds crazy mostly from open exhaust and Tilton clutch)

It's way more fun to watch it all happen than to read about it, so here's a video! Teaser screenshots below:

Thanks for reading guys! Hopefully we can find the last 6-7whp from the open plenum test. I also want to try a dual exhaust vac setup to see if we can't pull some vacuum on the crankcase and find some power there. Then we are going to be starting a cam shootout soon before building the motor with high compression JE pistons, eagle rods, and nismo oil pump. After that, race cams and headwork will begin for the ultimate stock stroke race engine! I don't think there's too much left in the stock engine like this, it's starting to want a larger cam and more compression to keep the power up at high RPM. Stay tuned!

What in the hell? The disappointing thing here is if they don't build these intake combos to sell. There is clearly more power to be had, more power than what a regular plenum spacer has to offer.

Great job i was amazed by the open plenum test. We all knew there is something more we can do for N/A.
Now any chance you can test this on an HR?

Great work on the video and plenum. What is underneath the upper, nonrevup lower like the MREV2? That design reminds me a lot of the double bubble from Rebello.

Good to hear about your future plan on the engine. Definitely will be great amount of good data coming from it.

Thanks for dedicating so much time and ressource on this older platform of ours.
