from one newb to another - go to the "search" area of this site and type in "pop charger". It'll save you from people on this site who hate answering our dumb questions. Oh, and possibly come to your house and kick your dog as well.

Is this something you can install yourself, out of curiosity?

it is a very simple install. i did it at about midnight with no light other than a couple friends holding their cell phones up, and it took like 20 minutes.

He failed to mention the next morning he discovered it was on backwards!!!

It took me like an hour or so to install my CAI and I'm probably the newbiest car newbie around. The popcharger is even easier to install.

As a matter of interest....WHY?

Also look at the Stillen unit. That's the one I'm waiting on crossing the Atlantic at the moment.
