Saturday Is The Day. (I hope)
I live in NY
I had a 2004 Civic EX that I bought new, and on the 3rd of the month had total when an 18 wheeler collided into my car. I walked out without a scratch, and new it was time to buy the car I wanted to buy in 2004, instead of the practical car I settled with.
I've been trying to find a new 2005 base, as there was a 1,000.00 rebate 'til 1/31 and I dont really want hid's parking on the street in NY anyway. I wanted it in black, and perhaps would have been willing to settle for the silverstone or daytona blue.
Bottom line, after having horrible experiences with a ton of tri-state area nissan dealers (specifically central avenue nissan was the worst), and being lied to that they had the model and color I wanted in stock and then not having it... there were/are only four yellow, four red, 1 white left in the northeast (from MD to Maine) according to 4 different dealerships.
I settled on the white but I could not get the price I truly wanted as there are so few base '05s left and the winter has been unseasonably warm..the Sportscar winter factor was not working as well as usual.
I realized I would probably have to look used or look at something else (practical Altima, fun but "teenagerish" RX-8, maybe the Murano?, maybe the civic si but 3 month waiting period on black and selling above sticker).
FINALLY I decided to try one last dealiership, last saturday. They were willing to find me the 2005 base in one of my three top choices, no matter where they had to get it from, at the price I wanted. Then the dealer tried the same technique that tons of others had: what if I can get you into an '06 for a couple hundred more? With the depreciation and stuff its a better deal anyway.
I said to me a couple hundred is two. Not a g, not 12 hundred. He said a couple means two to me two. And then I said and no destination, no this no that. Just that price plus tax. He said fine.
They needed to get this deal in by the end of the month it looks like for some reason. I was SOOOO happy.
So they call me tuesday and say we got the car come on in. So I say I'll be there Wednesday night. I go in last night and they are like hold on. Then my salesperson who came in on her night off tells me that the guy is coming over to go over the paperwork and the car will be ready for pick up tomorrow at noon.
I GOT PISSED. I work two jobs and go to school at night. I explain to the manager that u called me and told me u GOT the car, have me the vin etc, to come on in. That implies the car is IN THE DEALERSHIP.
He explains he was trying to get me in to still qualify for any January incentives. I said THERE ARE NO JANUARY INCENTIVES ON NEW '06 WHAT THE F.
So after some stuttering and stammering he was like we can have it driven to you tomorrow morning at work. I was like I AM NOT GOING TO HAVE IT DRIVEN TOMORROW AND I AM NOT GOING TO SIGN AND FORK OVER THE LOOT FOR A CAR I HAVENT EVEN SEEN OR INSPECTED YET.
So he apologized for the "misunderstanding" but couldn't bring himself to use words like im sorry or my bad or anything implying fault of course... and said it would be ready on Thursday and if I could only come in Saturday morning that would be fine.
I can't wait until Saturday... I have used up all my happiness yesterday and tuesday night waiting to get that car.. and now all I have is fear that my amazing deal is gonna fall through
I need this car. I hope I get it.
P.S. The forecast is for snow on Sunday. WTF!!!!

What an ordeal!
Have you tried using the "Nissanusa" web site?
It is a little slow some times, but you can check dealer's
inventory, searching by zipcode, 100 mile radius of zip.
http://www.config.nissanusa.com/redi...nissan&lang=en
Set up a search for an 06 base Z, then change the year to 2005
at the "dealer inventory" screen to see if that dealer has any new
leftovers.
I use it every day searching for an 06 SA/PPW Touring with nav.
Good luck!
