Miami to Los Angeles Road trip. Bad idea?
Hi. I'm seriously thinking about a two way road trip to LA from Miami. I have an 05 350z with 19330 Miles on it. The rims are 19'' HP design and the tires are Nitto NeoGen's. I have the enthusiast coupe AT. I love my car very very much and I dont want to do anything that would hurt it. What do you all think?
I'll get one of those bug bibs for the front too. Besides putting 3000 Miles on the car each way do you thing my Z would have any difficulty or overt problems, barring of course an accident, blow out or act of god?
The brakes will be changed before and I'll get wheel checked for alignment and balance. Anything else you all can think of?
Oil? coolant? Tune up?
Thank guys.
Susan.

You will want to kill yourself.
I have done that trip 1 time, one way, 3 days and I vow to NEVER do it again. Ever!
I have driven to/from St. Pete-EL Paso about 4 trips total and it's horrible.
Texas I-10 is 965 exits' wide and you will count every single one of them.
Man, getting me all worked up.
Don't do it. Just fly and be there in 4 hours.

i am a new owner of a Z and ive drove a 200mile trip already... and i dont find driving in the Z confortable for long distance... ur *** will be numb because of tight suspension.
i would say dont do it, it will be a fun ride, but not a comfortable one.

I'll get a bra and maybe some butt pads. I switched a busted front left rim (pothole) and now when I pass 80mph the car starts to shudder a bit. The wheel doesnt seem like it's moving but I can feel it in my bottom. It sort of feels like it's coming from the back.
Any thoughts?
Alignment? Balancing on the new wheel? Somethign worse? IF somethign was bent it would manifest at a slower speed no?
Please say yes.
thanks again boys.

I've driven roundtrip from SA to Orlando a few times & did it in 18 hours (not in my Z). Also, from SA to San Diego slightly longer. Yours will probably be a three-day trip. Regardless of what you drive, just need to plan on frequent breaks to stretch your legs. But in a Z, you'll definitely get to your destination faster but have more fun doing it than your Jeep.
A couple of mandatory things to get for your Z on a long road trip -- front car bra & a good radar detector. And if you can afford it (borrow one if you can), a portable navigation system.

i like going places new and fun, and i like making road trips. but if your alone its terrible and you feel like ripping your brains out for tinking it up. if im with a few friends or with a few other cars even on the trip i dont get bored or tired at all. id never try that drive in a z though.
