True, it all depends on how responsible/mature the driver is.

This is a two way street for me!
On one side I have my story, a long life around cars, I had my first car at age 10 and was working on it with my dad till 15 (1981 Auto Vette). It was then that we(my parents) decided maybe for my first car I shouldnt have a cammed 305. That was when my parents sold that car to put into a college fund. I was upset at the time but looking back, it was all for the best.

Working at Wendys part time I was able to afford a 91 NA MR2. At the time it was a older car that had so many modern ideas and decently quick. From then I built it up to a 300hp car that had gone through many stages... In that right, I think it is a good idea to start out with a platform that you truely love to grow with as a driver... IMHO the Z although faster than a NA MR2 is much safer, better airbags, no snap oversteer , no spinning through 4 way intersections after a light rain, traction control, etc etc. Although many young teens can't stop the temptation to go fast. They will either SINK or SWIM!

I hope I dont hear another story about stupid kids and 90MPH in a residential area.

okay, i decided not to race the car, or mod it or nething for a whle, till i get a much better feel for it, but im getting the car as a gift, cause i'm graduating school a year early and i a already have a full ride to george mason. so nothing is gonna happen with the car, except me driving it home, and to school, and work, also i have to pay for half.

Nice.

Study hard while in school and you will be able to purchase all the future mods you want.

Cheers,

Good luck with the car. If you are fortunate enought to have parents that would buy you a car like that then "good for you". Just be a responsible driver and student.
