Default Possible new owner questions.

I need some haggling angles, heres some background. Ive been a Volkswagen guy pretty much my entire life. Recently i had a chance to drive a friends Z and have been bit by the bug. However im having some trouble finding a decent used one anywhere. Ive looked at a total of 15 so far and they have all been junk. Leaking coolant, horrible transmissions etc. However i found one today that is in pretty good shape, except the bottom part of the bumper the paint is cracked a little bit, the previous owner put a clear bra type thing on the front of the car(i want it removed for sure.) and theres a scratch on the driver side lower part of the bumper and the door, and one on the rear bumper same side. There asking price seems like highway robbery to me. Its a 2003, silver touring,6spd with 24,000 miles on it and they want 25,890 for it. Its my understanding that you can get a brand new one for around 26-27ish. What would be the best way to start negotiations on it? Im only interested in it really if i can get a good deal. After all it is a 4 year old car. According to KBB's condition test it ends up in Good condition at $20,XXX and Excellent condition at $21,XXX. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! I want a Z!

That price is too high! You are right to question it, KBB is a good place to start. You might also look up on Autotrader.com for your area to do some comparisons. When you see a comparable car at a lower/much lower price, print it off and take it with you.

Default Hey Euro

Don't know how close you are to KC, but at the Jay Wolf dealership north on 29, they have a brand new 06 still sitting in their showroom that they want to move badly. They are asking 28k, but I know you could get it for far less. It's that dark almost burgundy/purple/wine color with black chrome wheels and black leather. Sweet car. I bought mine from there, used the internet to haggle and got a sweet deal on my 07. I just think you could get this one as cheap as a used one, but brand new. Something to think about.

I dealt with a guy named Nathan at Jay Wolfe, and was really impressed with the whole experience. This is my 6th new car purchase, and this was the best one yet as far as experience. It would be worth at least going by there and looking at that one. It's there at Tiffany Springs, right off of 29. I have a feeling you could go in there and offer 25 and he'd do it.

I see little point in haggling. Sellers are selling for a reason. The asking price means little.

Visit the seller, and take a ride.
If you like the car, makes an offer: “I will give you $XX,XXX for this car today. Will cash be OK?”

What is that saying? Money talks. Bull poop walks.

Just keep looking. There are tons of Z's out there, plenty in good condition with low miles. You shouldn't have any trouble finding a nice one.

Thats what i just did not 5 minutes ago. I told him id give him 22 cash for it. They didnt want to deal. I was looking at an 05 Base 6mt, for 24,988. Not even two days ago i test drove an 06 red touring with comparable miles on it for 22,500. The sales manager told me to go buy other one.
