Default Got my 2007 San Marino Blue with pics!!!

Well I have been lurking on here for quite some time now and finally made that decision that we must all make someday! What car to get, and what color to get it in! It's been a week since I got my car but man I love this color and the new engine is sick! Although I must agree with alot of people on here about the hood looking like the head of a brontasuarus! I just like to think the car has a boner though

As far as breaking the car in, the dealer found the car in Orlando and had to drive it up here so they had to put some miles on it before me, I just hope the guy didn't redline the hell out of it! But just in case I have been trying to keep it under 4000 rpm and slightly going up to 5000 rpm and once to 6000 rpm. How bad do you guys think that is? Once I hit 700 miles on it I will start driving it under 4000 rpm until 1500 miles!

What do you guys think of that plan? I value you's guy's opinions so let me know! Oh btw it is a Enthusiast 5AT(don't flame me for that one) I had to get that for personal/family reasons!

Peace!
NightRida

A hint on pix of dark colors: get some in the sun. It shows off the color much better. SMB is da bomb!

Congratulations! SMB is a cool color. I like the "changing" colors, makes you feel like you own two cars, huh? Well, congrats, again, and post more pics!

As per your break-in routine, Nissan says to just keep it under 4k and do not "race the engine" or "keep it at one RPM for too long" for the first 1200 mi. I'm guessing city driving would be the best way to stay within these parameters. When on the freeway, I'd constantly down and up shift just to keep the RPMs moving--below 4k, of course. I'm still breaking my '07 in and what I'm going to do is change the oil at 600 with regular mineral oil and again at 1200 with either Royal Purple or Redline. There are some good threads on here about break-ins. There are also, tons of opinions on how to "properly" break-in a piston engine. From "drive it like you stole it" to "baby it." Me, I'm sticking with what the Owner's Manual recommends, that way if anything should happen down the road *knocks on wood* I can't kill myself wondering, "what if." Also, I've read that a proper break-in also dictates potential HP and MPG for the life of the car...

1200 miles is not that long anyways, though I admit my right foot is getting mighty itchy...

Eww i'm starting to not like that color. I looks way too much like black. Although... another guy posted a pic of his SMB in the sun and it looked sex. Plus i just saw a g35 today and i think they have the same color as the SMB and it looked hawt as well.

Get aftermarket hood, then you're all set.

Thanks for all the comments guys!

Brickyard, you read my mind, I wanted to get one in the sun but it was getting late. I had to get ready to party so I will post more pics in the sun to show the true potential of SMB!

Phantom thanks for the advice and yes I wanted to keep it under 4000 rpm but damn, both of my feet started to itch and I could not resist

Trackpilot, I'll post pics with the car in the sun and then you will see that SMB = Pure Sex!!!

Please tell me I am going to be okay for going over the 4000 rpm for just a tad

Peace!

Nice! And forget about the break in period, drive it hard. I can honestly say I drove my '04 hard and mysteriously won 1st place for Best HP for Stock 350z at a Z dyno event with plenty of contenders. Guys with pulley's, exhaust, pop chargers, cams, headers, and even reflash dyno'ed less than my completely stock Z.

Don't worry about the auto transmission! The z is still a contender with it! Valve body it and you'll never give second thought to a manual tranny. (so long as you have a responsble place to install it!)

Beautiful Z!
