Hello all, my name is Mike and I just purchased an 05 350Z 5A on Saturday! My Maxima was a great car but NJ stop/go traffic got to me and I succombed to getting a replacement ride. And what a ride I got! I checked out a few cars but a quick test drive in the Z concluded my search. Ever since it's been reading, more reading and ... guess what? Reading some more of course! I came up with a few questions that I have yet to find an answer to:
- Since the stock intake is considered as good of a setup as anything else, and my air filter needs changing I've been pondering a k&n drop in. That said, k&n filters have been known to cause MAF failiure in Maximas. So stick with paper or go with gauze?
- Need a definite answer on this one: Will a 1/4 or 5/16 plenum spacer reduce throttle response?
- Need a definite answer on this one: Will a 1/4 or 5/16 plenum spacer clear the stock strut bar?
- I advanced the base timing from 14 to 15 BTDC on the Maxima with good results. Can this be done on the 350Z, and if so, are the results favorable as well?
Well, that's about it for now... perhaps I can meet up with some local Z owners and learn the ropes that way. Any around Linden, NJ?
