Default Bought Highly modded Z and feeling the pain of high maintenance

I picked up Tim Janders Z 6 months ago and have had to drop money on it consistantly...the latest is I've cooked the A/C hose that goes by the manifold twice and it's 600 bucks a shot...any turbo owners out there have any ideas for shielding the line so that it doesn't happen again...?

What turbo kit is on the car? I've covered multiple times how to shield the AC line in the Forced Induction forum. Check there and you'll find it.

600 bucks for an AC hose?? wow thats just wrong, you could have gone a custom hose way for over 1/2 the price I bet.

well after reading around hear I went and picked up my car yesterday afternoon. I think i'll pull the hose myself and just have it tested to make sure it's the rubber getting cooked that's causing the problem. I already ordered a new hose and I'm going to heat wrap it. i almost wish i would have just waited on ordering the stock one and picked up a custom one.

here's another question for you guys...is 450-650 dollars for a check-up retune on the dyno worth it...I have the HKS V-pro stand-alone and I was told it might be a good idea but that seems like a lot of money to pay with no indication it will do anything...i'm new to the Heavily modded world...I'm usually done most work myself and never had something this custom.

broke people like to look good in a Z lol dont worry Im gonna be doing that same thing lol

any sort of dyno tuning is worth it !! if you have the money go for it, your engine will thank you and so will your wallet in the long run. A good Tune is everything on a FI car.

no really...I drive it 2-3 times a week...and it's already been tuned...i've never heard of needed a retune to see how things are? that's what's new to me. I just assumed if it's running fine and been looked over that I shouldn't need to worry...any thoughts?

if its your first FI car go get a retune, if not to check out the car but to pick the brain of the tuner. you will learn a lot from just hanging in the shop for a couple of hours. its your call but if i bought a used FI car with the numbers you are putting down, i might want to have them check the tune.
