i just changed from rx8 to z a month ago. i had the rx8 for almost 4 years. I'm gonna say these two cars do have something in common. The auto dimming mirror are exactly the same. anyways, i am happy about my z now, but i also loved the 8. In summary, in my eyes, the major differences between the 2 are ,

MORE SEATS vs MORE POWER : )

Of course our thoughts are nothing but good! It's a great car! I hope no one makes fun of you for the lump though. When I first got the 07 Z last year people used to make fun of me for having the lump on my hood.

What year was your Z? Did it give many problems?
My Z was an 04 Enthusiast model. I had no problem except with the usual rattles and squeaks, but nothing that was really annoying (except when you are in the car for 5 days driving from Cali to Va.). I bough the Z as a track car only. I had my 8 as a DD. I soon came to the conclusion that the Z was a better car as a DD because the gas mileage was awesome. I also needed a bigger family car so the 8 went and the BMW came. I had my hopes high for the Z I guess. I was looking for a replacement for my last FD and I though the Z would be it. It wasn't. I was expecting more hp than it had and a light car. I got spoiled by the power of a "snail", the nice interior of the 8 and light weight of both cars. So the Z didn't meet my expectation as a DD but it was a fun canyon carver. So after a year I traded the "frog" (as my wifes called it). I do miss having the Z since I have no sport/fun car right now, just the 330i and the Titan. I'm planning in trading the 330i for something with a snail in it, just not sure what.

To the OP, I am a sucker for red sports car and your does look awesome.

So why would they ake fun of him about the "lump" on the hood. What are 18 or something. I have had my Z which is an 07 with the "lump" and I have never had any say anything about it. If anything people think my car is beautiful. And by the way most of this site likes the "lump" your talking about . It is there for a reason to whip any older Z's w/o F.I a$$.

thanks for the compliments guys.. I took the photos at nite and don't think they did the Z 100% justice, but least you can see what I've got now.. The dealer told me they had put this wing on several 350Z's and they sold like crazy (on non-Nismo Z's)..

I did but I really want to see what improvement are going to be in the 370Z before I jump on any car. If not then I will look for a turbo car.

I know this is going to be another debate about Z vs the rx8, but to me, the Z is a more practicle car than the rx8. It gives better gas milage and and no need for an engine rev before shutting down. Also the lines of the Z is mucj smoother than the rx8. Just my 2 cents.

Welcome!!!

I got the same color as you. Its called Nogaro Red. Its a specialty color for the 08 Z. I will turn heads just for the color alone.

Welcome to the forums.

Its $500 more for the specialty color. I like the spoiler.

Sly, I put nothing down.. Infact, Nissan cut me a check to pay off the lease on my RX-8, which I still have. I'm driving the RX-8 a couple days a week and the Z the rest...

All in all, I came out pretty good on the Z.. I'm planning to just tint the windows and put a new stereo in there (touchscreen) when I get the money together. After I get new stereo, will get a subwoofer for it as well at a later date.

thanks

heh i went from an Rx-8 to a Z as well...and an s2k in the middle.

the rx8 wins in terms of interior hands down, and i got the leather heated seats interior for the z...here's my 2 cents.
-You could fit more hot chicks in the rx8
-the rx8 didnt have enough power, but i would say better handling then the Z
-rx8 was definitely smoother.. My Z is running on 19's and is dropped 1 1/2 inches... that might affect it

Rx8- more of a daily driver with more room
Z- more performance

I test drove both cars. Both are really good. BUT it all comes down to, 'to his own'.
I went with the Z b/c I wanted a roadster for like... ever.
