Not Quite There...
Hey Everyone!
I'm not a new 350Z / 370Z owner yet. But I will be soon enough. I wanted to stop by and get aquaited with the site. I'm a regular over on LS1tech. Coming over to imports is certainly a new thing for me... but no american car companiesmake something to compete with a Z. The 2 seater sports car jump is from a Pontiac Solstice to a Corvette, and nothing in between (performance-wise).
So here I am getting a first look at where I hope my new home to be, My350Z.com.

The price of C5Z's right now, I don't really understand why you'd buy a Z. $20k for a decent mile, low 12 second Corvette, that you could bring to a roadcourse, and still get high 20's mpg on the highway.
Ahh... I've already got a low 12s camaro. I just want something more tamed as a daily driver. I like the looks of the new Z too much.
Well, I have a few seconds, so I'll hop into this topic.
My old Corvette

My current 350z

These two cars are very comparable in ownership experiences, I believe. I don't see a Corvette being any less drivable or daily-friendly when comparing to a 350/370z. The both offer similiar refinements. I have an Enthusiast Z, so I miss out a little on the interior niceness, but whatev.
If you're set on a Z, I would look for a nice touring/GT HR car. They are cheap now, great bargains. I wouldn't purchase a 370z until a year or two after release. With a big-time model change, the possibility of issue is there. That, and I'd rather buy a used car w/10-20k miles, and allow the original owner to eat the depreciation.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
