Default Car appraisal

Is it ok to ask how much a car is worth here? I searched manually and with the search feature but didn't find anything about it.

If its ok to post, then I'm lookin at a 2003 Touring 350z with 58kmi and some change. There are 2 quarter size dings in the body, 1 drivers door and 1 drivers rear wheel well. Other then that the car is in good condition.

I would offer 13k tops, as long as it passes all inspections (have a mechanic look it over)

Alright, thanks for the quick response. The guy is asking 14 but said he would go down to 12 but that is the lowest.

12k is pretty good, but I would definitely get it checked out by a mechanic. 2003's have weak transmissions and will start to grind in 3rd and 5th gear, so make sure you check that out as well (and it will start to be more prevalent when you are hammering on it). You don't want to think you got a good deal at 12 grand only to find out that you need to spend another 2 grand 4 months down the road because the transmission is shot. Ask for maintenance records as well.

Are you looking at manuals or autos? I believe all manuals from 03-04.5 were susceptible to this. Some people have 90k miles on their transmissions with no issues. Others had to have theirs replaced after 10k. And I had a hell of a time finding a clean 03 Z in the Albany area, so I ended up getting my from Mass. Autotrader is your friend.

Looking for a manual.
Not sure if i wanna look at this 03 I found now. It is in Buffalo and if could have a bad transmission it might not be worth driving 5 hours to see. I'm finding that I'm defiantly going to have to buy outta this area but hopefully not too far.

Welcome. Of course it is OK to ask. But a better source is KBB.

Yeah, I've been using KBB, Edmunds, and NADA but I wanted to hear what people had to say also.

That doesnt sound bad at all. A used car dealership would ask about 20k for that likely. And I dont mean to scare you away at all, but with the manual tranny 06s you have to watch for the oil comsumption problem (and 35th anniv. 05s). There is a huge post on it if you want to read up, just search oil consumption or something similar.

At all? Seems like the tranny issue is when you drive hard. G35's don't experience the problem as often but use the same motor/tranny. I talked to a mechanic and he said they don't get many 03's in with tranny problems but I only talked to one mechanic. Going to a bigger mechanic Saturday to get some more info.

Welcome. If you have a bit of a look through some of the newbie posts. There are quite a number of "garage queen" cars, so to only have 24k on the clock isn't too bad at all.

Go to autotrader.com and look at what some dealerships and private owners our selling there cars for you will see some vey high pricing and low. I'm sure you can find a cheap 350z with some low miles on it.

Oddball: Yes, nissan will replace your enigine if you test positive (not HIV) for oil consumption. They change your oil, seal all access to the oil, and ask you to come back after 1000 miles typically. Then they test the oil level, and if its fallen a certain amount, replace your engine. I believe you have to be under warranty, but thats the part im not sure about. Hope that helps
