Default I'm a little late, I bought my Z 12/09/11

I'll be honest, back in 2002 when they were first announced, I thought the 350Z was butt ugly. I was still very much in love with the wedge shaped fastbacks with pop up lights (3000GT, FD, S13 Hatch, etc) and I thought they looked terrible. I was a Mitsubishi guy back then (GS-X and VR-4) and I had grew up on 80's Chevy G Bodies.......I never was really a fan of Z's - I thought the Z32 was ugly as well. But my Grandfather had an Ol' Skool Z, Said he loved Datsuns with a passion because any man can afford one and have fun. (RIP)

I moved to Houston, TX in Jan 2005 (From my home of Cleveland, OH) After learning how much fun RWD can be, I made the switch to Mazda RX-7's I had a '93 that I just knew was gonna be my DD and I went and got an '83 that was gonna be the toy / track **** / monster. I got hit by a Drunk Driver in the FD and totaled it - at the risk of sounding like a Drama Queen I'm lucky to be here typing this.......I learned first hand why they are nicknamed "Rolling Coffins" - Thought I was OK and still had the FB to roll around in once I got out the Hospital........the tags were bad and it got towed.

Now I'm without wheels, Needed something ASAP but it still had to be RWD and fun.......enter my beloved '89 240SX Fastback. 240k miles and still going STRONG. I got into the S Chassis pretty hard after that - I never thought anything could corner like my FD and the S13 was damned close. I held on to it for a couple years and then I was gonna go full 180SX Type-X with it - Blacktop SR and all. I ended up finding a MINT S14 and I had to have it. Held on to that trooper for 4 years and over 100k miles (I drive my cars) but I was advancing in my career field and I wanted something more current.

I've wanted a San Marino Blue 350Z since they came out in 2007 - Once they added the LED Tails, The Bi-Xeons, The refreshed interior and the bump on the hood (It reminded me of my Grandfather's Datsuns) and I really like the OEM 5 Spokes. Everything on this car just works for me - It's perfect.

At the time in 2007, No way in hell I could afford one... hell I did good to sell all my S13 stuff for an S14. But I knew I just had to have it down the line. I'm very well known as a person that gets what he wants no matter what - once my heart is set on it it's mine, Period. I even had a 2007 Brochure that I was always looking at, dreaming.......For the LOLs I even tried to get an insurance quote - they told me "Wait till you're 30" Ironically that's just what I did.

I set a goal for myself, 2007/2008 350Z in San Marino Blue for my 30th Birthday...I turned 30 on 10/09/11 so I was off by 2 months but I still got it done. After about 5 months and 10,000 miles with this car, it's safe to say I'm a Z man from here on out and I know my next one will be a Black Nismo 370Z. See you in another 4 years on that one

Welcome and congratulations! From a fellow Houstonian, recent 350z HR owner (bought mine in January), and former S14 owner.

Welcome and congrats on your Z!

I use to own a 85 FB/GSL-SE and I miss that car. Sorry to hear about your FD but at least you made it out of that wreck alive.

Love that color.

I am also a fan of the stock 5 spokes from the 2006+ Zs... They will look a TON better if you grab some 25-30mm spacers for the rear, and 15-20mm spacers for the fronts... it just put them where they should be. (oh, and going a little lower helps too).

Welcome to the board!

Thanks folks, The Z is my first car note and my first "Nice Car" - Was only 4 years old when I got it. That's a new record for me lol

I don't really play on doing much to it.... It's a Base Model so an LSD in the back, Adding a 10" free air sub behind the driver's seat, steering wheel audio controls Also I plan on grabbing the ECU out of an Enthusiast and, all the switches for Cruise Control.

In short I want to turn it into an Enthusiast (sans TCS) with a Touring's Sound Stage

That's about it really - I'm quite happy with the power it puts down (for now) and I love the stock look of it in that color. I also love the fact that I be quiet when I wanna be or I can put my foot down and you'll hear me when I want you to.

The layout of the interior - How driver orientated it is, You just WANT to drive it. Also never in a million years would I have imaged the attention this thing still commands....to be honest I thought only other Car Guys would look twice at this thing (like my 240's) Folks treat this thing like it's a brand new car!!!

Congrats man, good story! Throw in a Quaife LSD and you'll love the car ten times over again, it makes it a different vehicle!
