Default New/proud owner of a 2005 350Z

I've actually had it for 3 months already, just haven't thought about making a profile here, but since I'm ready to learn and upgrade my Z I figured why not.

The car is completely stocked. No upgrades. What's the first thing you guys would upgrade?

You were wise to give your Z a few months driving before you start thinking about
a plan to mod. Also, getting a complete stock car is a big plus.
As a "first" thing to upgrade,a lot has to do with your budget. From my experience,
many Z owners go with new wheels as the first thing to do.Some,intake&exhaust.
It depends on your focus.Want the looks or,performance?Be careful with your wheel
selection if you go that route.IMO,its better to go quality and proper fit than buy
wheels driven by price. Also, the style of your wheel will set the tone for the look of your Z.On performance,be mindful that you are only going to get so much extra power
from bolt ons.Think about the logic of spending 3k+ to get another 10-15hp.
Many look at suspension mods, lowering your car.Have any plans for body mods in the
future?Think about this before you decide to drop your Z.
Good luck

Thanks for the reply!

I'm looking into performance first, then get the Z to look nice after.

Wheels are a must, do you have any recommendations?

I've thought about body kits, but I want to upgrade the performance on the car before modding the body.

As for for exhausts, do you have any recommendations as well?

And, anything I should really get for the Z that all Z owners have?

Hey Louie, welcome to the forum and congratulations on the purchase of your Z three months ago. The best intake is the '06 airbox with the added venture stack or you can buy the relevant parts and add them to your own airbox. The only thing it won't give you is the induction noise that a pod filter would give you, The big gain is a couple more HP and no worry of heat sink. I'm sure there is someone on this site who sells the parts for the venture stack but I can't remember their name. I really like the 19" LMGT4's but again wheels are a very personal thing. For the exhaust I love the sound of the Fujitsobo Legalis R, but I don't think they're made any more but good second hand ones come up for sale every now and then. Take a look and listen to the various exhaust recordings on YouTube (albeit recorded on cell phones), this should give you a bit of direction. I think the only worry for you is whether you run test pipes and remove them for the smog test or run HFC's. Good luck with it all.

Thank you for your reply.

It's funny you mention looking at youtube videos of different exhausts because that's what've been doing that past couple of days.

As far as running test pipes, what does that mean? Again, I am really new to the performance/modding side of cars.
