Default New Owner: 2007 350z

Hello my fellow 350z forum-ers. I just purchased a 2007 350z this past weekend. I had a 2006 350z for about a month but was super eager to upgrade to the HR. I do not have much knowledge on Z's but i do plan on learning in order to build my dream car. So let me tell you some info. The car is a 2007 with 87,xxx miles (Im super excited about it being an HR). Has custom paint job, black with silver and purple flakes from previous owner but the exterior is not 100% and I plan on fixing all of its flaws within time. JNC rims and it actually looks good on the car. Everything about the car is Nismo, interior with red stitching, body kit, and nismo on the gauge cluster. Only thing I'm skeptical about is that the Nismo plate under the shifter with number is not there, supposedly stolen. I called Nissan and wanted to confirm 100% that it is a Nismo before I actually call it a Nismo but they will get back to me tomorrow. Anyways, Feel free to look with comments!!

Welcome to my350Z.com!

Certainly seems to have all the right stuff (exterior wise) to be a Nismo.

Couple of tell tale signs to look at:

- Does it have the indent on the console where the allegedly stolen plaque goes? Non-Nismos do not have this s'far as I know.

- The most certain way to tell is to plug in the vehicle ID number (VIN) into the VIN Decoder utility found here: https://my350z.com/forum/vindecoder.php (or under the "Tools" drop down on the upper nav bar from any my350Z.com page)

- If all that checks out, you can apply for a Nismo certificate of authenticity from Nissan. There's a thread here somewhere that describes how to do it.

Only "negative comment" is that the wheels don't suit the car, the rears are way undersized and the offset is off by a mile. Other than that, clean car.

Good luck!

So i just checked the decoder and... it is a Nismo so thats a relief. But i also received a call from nissan stating they're working on confirming themselves that it is a Nismo but they are not able to tell me what the Serial Number is which is kind of upsetting me, and so i asked about the certificate but they stated it won't have the serial number, just the VIN is there any way to find out that number besides from that plaque?

I call BS on that from whomever you spoke with at Nissan. The COA does INDEED have the SN on it.

Uh oh. Let's see some pics under the hood. Does it have the extra front fender bracing and the Yamaha chassis damper?

Hopefully Nissan can get your Serial Number, when I called they specifically asked me what my S/N was. Not sure if that was for verification, or if they don't keep record of it. You're missing the front bracing (can't for the life of me remember the correct term haha). I sincerely hope you did not pay much for tho car. In the meantime, however, come check out the Nismo group we have on FB.

Send a request to the admin for the 350z Nismo only group on Facebook when you get the chance. If you have any questions, shoot me a pm on here.

You'll need the following

1.)Plaque # of your car (picture, etc.) with your name and date next to it
or
2.)Certificate from Nissan with your name and date next to it

-You must provide ONE of these two items to be approved

I just want everyone to understand, I got the car for a very good price for what i paid TOTAL. Im a college student that doesn't have that kind of money, so believe me when i say i got it for a steal price. Let me explain what total means; since many of you are so intrigued with the thought of how much i got it for. I had a 2006 350z which i bought about a month ago. I got it for such a great price. Ive been looking for this type of deal to happen for 6 months since my BMW decided to die on me. And since i got that 2006 z, I knew i wanted to upgrade to an HR, i didn't even think about Nismo because they were way out of my price range. Surfing craigslist to see whats out there, (I was looking for 07-08 z) and then i see a Nismo for sale, and i messaged the owner to see if he was interested in trades and making some sort of deal. I messaged him thinking he was going to reject my offer immediately but ends up, next day we met up and made it happen. I was car-less for 6 months looking for the right deal, and the way life works, everything happened with perfect timing. Now what I'm thinking about is getting a 370z or putting my blood sweat and tears into this car, but not 100%. I love the car, it drives perfect perfect. The power of this vs the 06 z, is crazy different. So what you guys think?

Are the yamaha dampers still on the car? you should be able to see one though the front grill and the other under the floormat where the spare is.

Doesn't the Nismo also have a grey background on the tach and red stitching on the door inserts?

Couple more things it doesn't seem to have...

Yes, red stitching on the door panels and a god awful silver background on the tach with NISMO on it.
It looks gutted. Or the vin and some pieces were added to a non nismo.

So does it have a salvage title or something because it doesn't make sense for anyone to trade unless it has some problems that the po didn't want to deal with...

Hopefully you have good luck with it but I would start saving for when you figure out whatever the PO knew that you dont.

Extra HR power won't be any good sitting inside firestone.
