Default New owner and a complete noob

Hi guys, just bought an 08 350z, it already came modded with a few mods.
It has a motordyne exhaust, two cold air intakes, rims and a couple of cosmetic touch ups. I'm going to be wrapping this fairly soon but for now wanted to know if the Uprev tune would do me any good? I probably won't do much more than that since a decent twin turbo set up will cost 20+k but any recommendations are welcomed =]

Welcome to the forum! If you're even considering High Flow Cats or Test pipes, wait for the tune.

I would drive teh car for a while and get a feel for anything that may need attention. Diff bushing is notorious for being crap on our cars. Also, I'm in the down period of a blown Concentric Slave Cylinder (another notoriously bad part on 07+ Zs) so I would at least set aside money for that in the future as you have to drop the transmission.

My next mod would be some adjustable sway bars. One of the best bangs for the buck!!!

EDIT: It looks like you are lowered, no? Coilovers? Springs? Id find that out for sure just in case you need to look into camber adjusting parts to save tires!!!

Other than that, the car looks great!

awesome thank you for all the info!! I think the car doesn't have high flow cats, but when I got it the car I believe they were included. Ill take a pic and post it. Other than that I'm not sure what the suspension is, need to take a look at it. OVerall the car drives really nicely (although I did spin out slightly when it rained) since I'm coming off of an 02 m3 to a z its a way different feel

Welcome to the forum! Thats a nice looking 350z that you picked up. I would second some suspension mods to help get more out of the power the car has.

Hi guys, so I do have a tune on it already that was done by Z car garage out in San Jose. It's also has suspension work done as well. Stay tuned as I'll be wrapping the car soon =]

Welcome to a fellow Bay Arean.

Good call on P.O. using ZCG. Rob knows his stuff. His shop and my own hands are the only ones that touch my car(s).

You just pick that up? Not sure if the same car or not but could swear I've seen it coming down the hill one day in last couple months as I was heading up. (Or similar.)

One thing I'd mention - in addition to a fluids baseline and the inevitable CSC previously mentioned - is that if you're looking for a nice improvement in acceleration, '07+ Zs really wake up with a set of gears. If you're all street and/or combination of street & tracks like our local pair, I wouldn't go much lower than 3.90; but anything lower than the 3.54 stock gearing really wakes up the HR's penchant for revs.

Enjoy!

Nice! Glad to hear the car was in good hands. I'm honestly just going to stick to street. I never even tracked my m3, I just enjoy crusing, going on drives but def like feeling the acceleration. Idk if it's me but then3rd gear could pull a little harder and 5th going over 70 mph doesn't quite give me the rush. But then again I drive amgs, m, corvettes daily so I'm a little spoiled in the acceleration department

Gears would be the way to go then. When you're pulling 1st and 2nd gear hard on, say, a freeway ramp, you know the HR wakes up above 3500. Gears'll get you there quicker.

But yeah, you cannot compare the acceleration of a non-boosted Z to any of the V8 beasts you mention; however, personally speaking, where my AMGs (or my Q45 for that matter) fell off in handling, the Zs were just coming on and pulling a g under throttle beats acceleration to 80, 90 - in MY book anyhow.

Loop de loop de loop. Looks like Paseo Padre Parkway up in your neck of the woods.

That TDX2 sounds really good. Little on the loud side (for me) at moderate RPM; bet it sounds awesome though in the upper range.
