Not true with the Z. He will get the correctly-cut key but it won't do much. Getting the ECU to recognize its transponder chip and start the engine would need a quick ECU reprogram at the dealership; i.e. he can't simply get a key, walk up to a parked Z and drive away. Preventing that is the very purpose of all transponder-based systems.

And if a thief is skilled enough to reprogram the ECU on his own, he doesn't need your key to unlock the car anyway; he will be in the driver's seat in less than 10 seconds.

Mine came today. I am thinking of framing mine with the window sticker off my Nismo Z.

YAY! I got mine today too! I will see about framing it. Not sure if I want to do it in the same frame as my window sticker or not. I had my window sticker laminated as soon as I got it. So that protects it.

Legally the dealer has to give it to you. So you should have it somewhere.

Just received mine today, a little disappointed that it didn't have actual handwritten signatures. Not that it's going to keep me from framing it as well...

Got mine yesterday!

W00t!

I sort of wanted my name on it too, but then thought it's probably best in case you want to sell it.

Although - the way I'm feeling about mine - it's staying in the family

I already told the wifey that

This sounds corny, but I envy you Nismo guys for getting these certs. Shows that you have a piece of Nissan history. I can see Ebay auctions in 20-30 years with "genuine Nismo edition 08 Z, with certificate of validation". It'd be cool if us regular Z guys could go online and get something with our VIN on it and stuff. That way, you can tell who the enthusiasts are when you are looking for a "classic" 350Z

As long as the auction is for a minimum of $1,000,000 I'll be happy I told my wife it's an investment and I won't be wrong dammit

Cool Nissan's stll doing authenticity certificates @ http://www.nismozowners.com/

I got my Nismo Z Authenticity Certificate today. Found link through this my350z.com thread.

http://www.nismozowners.com/ Do the survey, get the certificate. Pretty cool.

My dealer didn't know that Nissan was doing the certificates. Thought I'd bring this thread up again for all the poor new Nismo Z owners.

Just did the survey today... thanks for the thread bump. I wouldn't have even known about the certificate otherwise.

I did the survey around the 3rd week of Feb. and got it March 31st. Things take a long time to get to the islands, next day air usually means at least 2 days for me. So no more than 6 weeks would be my guess for you guys on the Mainland.
