Default Should I sell my OEM Nismo rims?

Before you say "Hell No!" Here's my reasoning. I doubt I'll ever sell this car. The way I look at cars is that I buy a car that I want to keep forever. I plan on modding it until it's just the way I want. The looks, the power, the handling, the stereo. I had my first car from when I was 16 until just a couple years ago when an absolute moron hit me from behind and totalled it. I was stopped at a red light in broad daylight. Anyway, I had the original stock rims on the car chromed. I eventually upgraded to larger rims but kept the stock ones thinking I could sell them someday. 10 years later they are sitting at my parents house collecting dust and probably aren't worth $200 because they are 16".

Can anyone give me a good reason not to sell these rims?

Can you buy them from Volk? If so how much?

rims are just rims.
they are like shoes.
wear em, get bored, sell em, get new ones.
rims arent really an investment that you will make more money off of them later on. styles change, fads die, and really nice rims now may be ugly later and no one wants em.

Hey BRICK, I know that StoneZtech is looking forward to buy the rims. Maybe you can talk to him coz he was asking for mine since I will upgrade my rims to VOLK GT-M as well. Anyways, my car wont arrive till mid of March I will say.....SUCKKKKKSSSS~~~~~

MC did recommend me not to sell any of the stock items from the NISMO, but if you really think that you will try to keep this car forever and upgrade it as the year goes by, then is really up to you. Whether you sell it or not, if someone pays good money for it and compensate you on your other mods, then JUST DO IT. Maybe I will sell mine as well, let's say for $3k for the set including the tires....

You should keep them, but if you're going to sell, sell them now to get the most money.

Even if you sell in the future, I don't think having the stock rims on the car will matter much. Limited edition or not, I have the feeling the Nismo will depreciate like any other Z.

Buying these rims brand new doesn't make sense. These rims are basically the same as the '06-07 track/grand touring wheels and those wheels were pricey. For the price, you could purchase some quality aftermarket rims.

The OEM forged rays are $1313.93 per wheel for the fronts and $1647.93 per wheel for the rears.
The nismo rims should cost roughly the same or maybe even more.

I agree with you. I don't think the Nismo is going to be that special and not depreciate like any other car. They probably are worth the most right now. Seems different dealers charge different amounts (nothing new from those bastards). I saw someone posted a price of $789.31 for the fronts and $1111.29 for the rears from a dealership. The tires have about 1,000 miles on them. I wonder how much I can get for them. I cleaned them off yesterday and I found one spot that had 2 little indentations from a rock or something that didn't even chip the paint. Otherwise they are just about perfect. My new GT-V's had one little nick on one of the lips.

It appears that most of you that have responded so far are non-Nismo owners so maybe you don't share the same passion for a factory Nismo limited edition (under 1500) made car. I believe your assumption that the Nismo is not going to be that special in the future is incorrect. Even if one does not intend to sell his car ever, things happen and events can change. Mod it all you like but if you ever do have to sell it, you would want all the factory OEM parts intact that make it a complete limited edition vehicle. After all that IS the reason most of us bought them. As far as the future worth/value is concerned, We will just have to wait and see. But i will say in 10 years i would want a Nismo in my garage over any standard 07-08 Z.

just a Nismo owners 2 cents...

WOWWWW~~~ So expensive dude.....so maybe I should ask for $6k for the whole set including the stock tires in case I really decide to sell mine......LoL Anyways, I am in S.America and will be hard and expensive to ship from here to N.America again!

The prices I posted are MSRP...and nobody pays MSRP. The prices Brick listed are probably more realistic. Still expensive, but again, if you're going to spend the money, might as well go aftermarket.

When you sell, you never get as much money back of course. The tires are $1K on their own, but still I don't think you'd be able to get $3K for the combo. For myself, I'd shoot for roughly $2500....on the used market, these RAY wheels would be great deals.

Joe Blow can't go and order the body kit or parts that make a Nismo what it is.

The other thing you may want to consider is if you autocross or go to the drag strip. You could setup the extra rims with tires specific for this. I know there are several people who want to change there rims but keep in mind your selling a part of a special edition nismo to someone who doesn't own one.
True. I haven't been into autocrossing or going to the drag strip in the past, but that might change. Probably in a couple years when I have more time. How different would tires be for autocrossing?

Have you ever seen a Acura type R without oem wheels or a Toyota Supra Twin Turbo without oem wheels ? Sure we all have, but dont you look at them with more respect when you see them going down the road still today with all original equipment? Im the owner of #247 I really did not buy this car thinking I was going to make any money instead bought it because it was going to have everything I wanted already on a car that I could still afford, if I bought a regular 350Z the first thing I would do is change wheels but for the NISMO I wouldn't think it keep it OEM all the way.

for my 2 cents, it's a limited edition, where no one can not get any of the parts that we have on our cars, unless of course they get it from the owners. In the end it's up to you, but I would say keep them and save them for spares. Good luck, and I hope you keep them.

I didn't realize that you can't go out and buy all the parts. I figured if you were willing to pay dealer prices, you could get them. I think I'm going to keep them now for the track idea though. It's something I'll likely get into later, and easily popping on another set of rims and tires makes good sense.

Just for this and the wear on normal everyday tires that you want to keep a smooth ride with, don't handly it well.

On the side of tires to choose it's a driver preference. A couple of friends like softer tires and some others like them to be a little harder. The big difference is how deep your pocket book can be. If you start doing something like this it can be addicting. Best thing would be to look into a local club and check it out. Talk with some of the guys that are running Z's and see what their using.
How they like them and so on.
Thanks for the input. That's why I'll probably get into it later. Hopefully I'll have more time and money later on.
