Default Tell Me Why Not

Like most already know I been away from my Nismo Z for Months now, and all I have is you guys to keep me sane. Anyways I been at various sites drouling over the specs on the GT-R, and I was wondering wether 20s on the Z would be smart. I drive my car and I don't mind the stiff ride. Another user PACFWU already lowered his Z with Cosco's with no complaints...I'm not tracking my car. My goal is a all street performaning Knight riding stealth car...So what I'm trying to say if the GT-R can come with 20s would you think upping the offset on the Nismo would be smart or not. Like 19s in front and 20s in back and no...I'm not talking about chrome or three spokes I'm talking TE37 VOLKs 20x11.0 in the back and 19x9.5 in front. I think handling would be crazy along with the price for it but would do you guys think?

well... the nismo is supposed to be the best handling Z... putting 20" you are just putting a lot more weight on the corners, more momentum for the wheels and ride afraid of every pothole... (not mentioning that 12.8" brembo brakes will look small)
if I have to go with TE37, I'll go 18" all corners, 8.5/9.5 +22 or 9.5/10.5 combo... just to go closer to the nismo RSC car.
putting coilovers is a different story.. you can put just POS coilovers to have a "better" look or put decent coilovers for handling.
about handling.. if you don't have enough rubber and shoulder to blend with road surface and the surface is less than perfect you are just losing performance because the wheels are going to loose contact with the ground at any imperfection.

my 2cent.

no go bro.

if you really want the Volks, just go with the 18 front, 19 back staggered setup.

Don't increase rotational mass if the car wasn't designed to handle it...

But if you do, exchange your Nismo wheels with my GT Rays

I would say:

1) Carbon Fiber the entire thing!

2) Go 157 MPH on a dark road.

3) Get some 20" wheels...maybe some spinners?

Honestly, man: are you for real?

I'll offer a different opinion. Honestly I think 20s would look good, but you would likely deter from handling and acceleration as they would probably be heavy wheels. You could do a lightweight setup even with 20s, but it would cost you. I wasn't even aware that TEs were offered in 20s.

You could do 20s for the street and the stock 18/19s for the track.

If you do 20s with the stock suspension, the wheel gap would be horrid. Lowering it would be a necessity.

How about a red light that goes back and forth on hood... and maybe lambo doors... wow, that would really be great...

if you really look for performance I still think that 18" all around.. 9.5"+22 front and +12/22 rear (if you also want the look) is the way to go.
at that point you can also choose in a wide range of hi-performance tires... not some falken fk 452 or general to don't be raped any time you change tires (I assume if you look for performance you're going to smoke a set of tires every couple of months)

on 18" you can start with falken azenis tr 615 if you want damn good street tires AND performance AND price, or go with bridgestone RE-01R, or yoko... or go a step further and go for michelin pilot cup or pirelli pzero corsa.

that's my opinion.

well that is what I experienced on the other too (the 06) with "small" good tires you can really go fast... I don't know about running 19" all corners.. but 20" with /30 or /25 tires looks insane to me but I also have to say that usually on R-comp tyres the sidewall is so damn stiff that looks like driving a /25 tire...
