Default how much power without F/I?

hey everyone,
im new to the z world so right now im trying to figure a few things out before i pick my nismo up. im coming from the subaru community so please dont bash on me lol. well i came to conclusion that without forced induction a 350z will only reach about 300whp? my biggest concern is having problems with the car. i bumped into some major probems with my subaru and now im parting out and getting rid of it. so how well does the tranny and motor hold up on these newer z? what mods can i do without F/I to get the most out of my z? my goal is over 300whp without forced induction. coming from a 400whp subaru i dont want to be disappointed in the perforamance of my z. any advice would be greatly appreciated.
thanks,
andrew

the only way youll get 300whp without going f/i is if you do a full N/A build even at that youll barely crack 300whp check the N/a build thread and look at a few of the builds people have done and youll see what the vq is capable of n/a

what year do you have? it is rumored that an HR with full bolt ons and a tune/flash will be pretty darn close to 300hp.

theres a lot of info in this thread. https://my350z.com/forum/vq35hr/320191-07-hr-reflash-completed.html

i would be willing to be you might be able to hit close to 300 with full bolt ons and a tune.

Isn't this a moot subject? F/I = 300+ N/a = 300-
I think that by the time you get your bill for the N/a
build you will kick yourself for not going FI... The only
question remains, which kit to begin the exploration to
the depths of debt would you like to install?

Anecdote coming from an '03 driver whom abandoned
all hope of 300hp from N/a installs (with money spent
w/i reason). Just have an F/I driver w a mild tune take
you out for a spin. WHOA.

The good news is this: whether you are at 300WHP, below 300WHP or above 300WHP, you're driving a Z.

By the end of this summer there should be some different alternatives for running FI on the HR motor -- and some good statistics on how much power you can look forward to achieving. You'll have to wait a couple of years IMO, to find out the reasonable limits that you can push the stock HR to and not run a high risk of having to rebuild your engine.

Have you driven a 2007 Z? That would give you a good measuring stick as to whether there's enough power with the stock HR motor to make you happy. The Nismo mods mostly affect handling and looks, none of the mods are designed to increase power. Can you add a bunch of bolt-ons and make more power? Yes, but the gains per dollar spent aren't very good.

My advice would be to do a few HR (2007/2008) test drives and see if you like it. Of course you can just look at a Z, especially a Nismo, and KNOW it LOOKS a ton cooler than any Subaru that's ever hit the pavement -- but you definitely want to be sure that you are going to love the car before you purchase the Nismo.

Good luck! Have fun!

yeah i hear ya. ive test drove a couple 07's and they hold there own. i love f/i but i fear the problem of rebuilding my motor like you said or something else big. ive had bad experience with my subaru and i never want to go back with the same track. i want to keep things simple and still have respectable power/ or power that i would be satified with.

go fi. with proper tuning, it will be safe. take it to a reputable shop known for their work with z's / g's. if you dont want to dish out a lot to go fi, just get a single turbo, youll still be happy.
