Jack up the car to see and pull out the spacers (you have to have the spring uncompressed to pull the spacers out). Looks like this:

What does taking the plastic spacers do exactly?
i.e lower from stock height?
making the suspension not as stiff?

They are there so that the front lip doesn't scrape during shipping and are meant to be removed.

yes, the front a little bit b/c they are only in the front springs. They should be removed either way b/c they're not meant to stay there.

Inserts designed to keep the spacing between the springs from compressing past a certain point?
No. It does not drop it.

Not sure why it's so common for spacers to be left on the Nismos. It's common for many car brands to have these, but should be removed during pre-delivery inspection.
If the spacers are left in there, it simply carelessness of the tech who looked over the car. I'm guessing regular 350Z did not have these spacers since I have not heard of similar problems on those cars.

The car actually does have more wheel gap with the spacers installed.

Wheel gap would be the opposite of spring compression no?

That's great. The member asked if the car dropped a bit after spacers were removed. And yes the car looks lower or "dropped" after the spacers are removed. No the car is not actually lowered, but will look lower. Don't see why I have type this or why you feel the need to insult other members.
