Default Should I Get the Nismo or wait for the 370?

Here is the story-

I had a 05 G35 and loved it, then I did a dumb *** thing and sold it and then bought a 08 C350. I know, don't ask me why, it is a nice car but not for me. Long story very short, I test drove a 06 350 Base, and then a 08 350 Nismo today. I have to say that I LOVED the car, the way it feels and the way it sounds. So down to the real numbers:

I have a quote from a dealer for a black 08 Nismo for 33,500. As far as I can tell, that is a killer price in Orange County. My real question is that should I pull the trigger and get the 08 Nismo or wait a month for the 370 to come out? I think I would always mod my cars, and as for the Nismo, I would keep it stock except for some new rims and a nice 1" drop on some coilovers, but that would be it. I do have a problem that the car does not come with a NAV and the new 370 has a SICK NAV in the car, same as the G37's. The 370 also has a much nicer interior, in terms of looks and feel. The point is that I am kind of torn. When it comes down to price and cost, the 370 might turn out to be a little bit more, but who knows at this point. I am all about driving, but I am not sure if I would track the Nismo or not if I got it.

Help guys! What would you do if you were me? Buy the Black Nismo for 33.5K or wait a month for the 370?

Thanks for your input in advance

IF you wait, and get a 370, you also inherit ALL problems and bugs that will come with it. I'm sure you know all about Nissan's support when it comes to technical, or mechanical issues. The 350, and G had many issues in the first few years of production, and terrible customer support. Now the 08 Nismo is as refined, and "perfect" as a 350 can get. By "perfect" I mean that no major issues have come up for any 08 Z's, base to Nismo they are all pretty sound and free of bugs. In the end it is a decision you will have to make, but for the price they are quoting you, and the apr you should get at this rough economic time the Nismo might be a better deal. I don't think they will work with you on price, or apr when the 370 hits...new HOT car equals no deals.
Good luck in whatever you decide

Thanks for the info.

You are totally right about issues of the first production line of new models and that is something to consider. I would have to agree that the Nismo felt "perfect" in terms of how I was molded to the road through the car, I really felt "one" with the car. I which I had factory NAV available, but I should have no problem throwing an AVIC in there. After reading a huge amount of info on the car, modding would be minimal. I do not know how the 370 will be in terms of price, but getting the car at or around invoice might not be too hard, but I would have to wait several months for it. I am leaning towards the Nismo, but we shall see.

Please throw in your 2 cents if you have it!

Don't have cents, so buy the nismo. Mod it, drive it, then when something better comes along jump ship.

I was faced with the same decision a few months back. Ended up getting the Nismo for a few reasons. For me, I just loved the way the Nismo looked. After seeing spy shots of the new 370Z (which now matches the actual) I hated the fangs and the lights. Sure it came with a bit more hp, but I knew I could be happy with the 306 hp, which is plenty for me and where I live. Probably the most appealing part the Nismo was it came with much of the options I planned on installing. Now, no warranty conflict and I've got a Z that's been refined over years of trial and error. As a bonus..it's a potential collectors car.

370Z seems great for what it is. Just depends on what you want.

That is some great experience info. At first glance of the Nismo kit, I was not to into the rear bumper, but after seeing it up close, I fell in love. You are totally right about the parts already being on the car. I would be putting a kit, exhaust and upgarding the suspension on it anyways, it is already done. I just want to make a good choice as that the Nismo will be my daily driver for some time.

Thanks again

Nismo.
First year production is not reliable.
If you get 370, after 1 year, it won't be unique car anymore.
Nismo is limited.
If you want 370, trade it in in 3 years.
good luck

NISMO for sure. I believe it handles better and even though the 370 has more HP, the performance is not noticeable. I hated Zs before I saw a NISMO and I love mine. I have owned 3 Porsches, 2 Lotus Espirits, 2 NSXs, and love my NISMO. I thought I would only own her for a few months but it has been almost a year and every mile is still fun. I guess the tie breaker will be whether you like the look of the NIsmo better than the new Z. So the bottom line is wait for the NISMO 370. Hope that helps.

That helps a great deal, especially when you speak from experience of having so many excellent sport cars. I would love an NSX, but no way I am going to pay for a 94 NSX with 100K + for $20,000.

Anyways I am thinking the Nismo is the way to go. I have been calling dealers like crazy and I got it down to $33,400 +TTL. Finance rates are not that good at 6.99% and leases are even worse. Finance deal is about $715 a month with 0 down. Lease is going to be a cheaper payment of course. I got it down to $515, tax included. That would come out to $886 down and with a 41% residual and a money factor of .003ish, about $15,000 due after lease. With that deal I would be paying over $40K when I am all over.

When it comes to the Nismo, it is expected that it will be more expensive, and I am sure that this is a good deal compared to other deals. I really appreciate everyone's input.

Go through Nissan and get the promotional APR.
I think right now it's 0%, or 1.9%.
Apply at Nissanusa.com.
DO NOT APPLY AT A DEALERSHIP!
Do it online and know for sure that you are approved for the low APR.

I didnt know about this. Can anyone confirm this? The dealer said that the Nismo would not qualify for the 0.9 or 1.9% apr. I am going to check into it.

Thanks!!

I would wait. Get the Nismo and keep it till 2010 when the 40th Anniv. comes out. By then all the bugs will be worked out. Past experience I rushed out and bought a 2000 S2000 thinking they would only make a 2 yr run. i got it at msrp when everyone else was marking them up. I should have waited a year ot two because they came out with a glass window and production hardtop. I plan on either getting a used Nismo or waiting to get a 370 w nismo or Nismo 370z. i was slated to get one last year/this year but now I have a little one so I have to wait to pay my Infiniti off. I am glad though becuse it will be a tough call between the g conv. and the new Z. I think the new Z looks nice with or without the Nismo kit. The Nismo itself is a huge improvement on the Z. (Been a fan but the kit and production enhances it!) Just my thoughts, I have purchased 3 brand new models for first year and have regretted it because of issues/or needed improvements.
